First Time Grow and Sativa Flowering

First plant, Sativa, indoor, dispensary bag seed. Did Fem early on in Veg and defoliated in stages just after 12/12 started. 12/12 was around Aug 15 at six weeks old (knew it could triple in size and wanted to keep it manageable) and first white hairs Aug 24. Using LED with both veg and flowering lights on. Using Fox Farm trio and that feeding schedule plus cal mag and keeping PH around 6.8. Now around six weeks since first hairs and buds getting a bit fatter but still small. Smells amazing and very sticky resin on sugar leaves. Keeping humidity 40 to 43 and temp 70 to 73 with fan blowing on it. Trichomes clear but hairs bending and curling and about 30% brown on top and middle buds. Wondering why buds not bigger with hairs browning and how many more weeks? I’ve kept light 24” from top so no light burn. Plant has been healthy throughout. I have pics but not seeing option to attach.

Hi @PK5 , welcome to the neighborhood… being a sativa it could still have another 6 weeks to get ripe. As for size there’s so many reasons why and without a lot more information I wouldn’t even know where to start guessing. Most sativa like a lot of light, what do you have for a light?

Thanks for the reply! King LED 600 watt, 10 x optical condenser, 2x2, full spectrum. Thought about adding side lights but read plant might finish faster without extra lights as it thinks fall is coming. We have company coming in three weeks so I need to finish it up by then unfortunately. Wondered if changing dark to 10/14 would move it along without losing a lot? Don’t seem to be able to attach pics, maybe because I’m a new member. It’s in Coco Loco.

If you have had the light 24" the whole time it could be why your buds didn’t fully develop, I think like 15 or 18 would have been better especially for a sativa. All that said I’m with you on not finishing up in three weeks you could try to shorten the days but I’m not sure if it will work

Okay thanks again. Good to know as a newbie grower. King recommended minimum of 24 inches to prevent light burn so next time I’ll lower the light. Plant is about 34” tall on main stem with numerous branching colas and buds, it’s sturdy and looks great, but I just need buds to fatten more and quicker. Next time I’ll know more time is needed in bloom for Sativa.

I don’t have that light and I’m going by the information King provided on Amazon to get to my recommendation but I feel pretty safe to say you could drop it down to about 18" about a week before you switch to flower, watch the plant and if there’s no reaction you could go a little lower but I probably wouldn’t get any closer than 12 or 14"
