Hello im just curious how these look. They are 14 days out of soil at this point. To germinate them I soaked them in water for like 12 hours then put them in a wet paper towel for 2 days then they popped Tails. I put them in a small pot with happy frog and one popped up the 2 days later then the other popped on the 3rd day in the soil. I just transplanted them last Friday on day 9 into a pot with a 50/50 mix of happy frog and ocean forest also 20 percent added perlite. I put dynomycoin the hole when I transplanted and alls I have been doing is useing RO water phed to 6.2 up to this point. I know i over watered them so i am letting the soil dry up. Also when is a good time to start topping i have 4 nodes with the 5th one starting to come out? They seem to be growing well i just dont know for sure because of this being my first grow. Thank you everyone for your time in advance!!
Howdy Drew
Welcome
I usually grow out to 7th node then top to 5th node.
Thank you
Welcome to the neighborhood. Your ladies are looking good.
Looks like you have a good start.
I don’t think you can pH RO water. It wont hold it and will just take on the pH of the soil I’ve heard people say…? Maybe someone who has more experience than me will chime in on this. I could be wrong.
@MartyMarajuanaseed sorry i ment to say it is 6.2 ph out of the ro system and about 9 tds
No problem. Just trying to help.
Looks like you are off to a good start.
Welcome to the forum.
@Drew9189, welcome to the forum. What @MartyMarajuanaseed was referring to is that pure water (R/O, rain, distilled) has no mineral content, so there’s no true pH reading from it. It can be confusing because when you put a pH pen in it, it’s going to show you numbers on the screen, but it’s not an accurate reading, and you’ll find that if you leave the pen in there, you’ll see the reading change.
A very common mistake that newer growers make is to test and then try to adjust the pH of pure water.
If you’re using pure water straight, there’s no need to adjust it, because it will take on the pH of the medium you’re adding it to.
If you add nutrients to a jug of pure water, this nutrient solution can now be pH tested, and adjusted up or down if necessary.
@4204life thank you
@Drew9189 welcome to the family my friend happy growing
From my experience with RO, I always add Cal-mag to it so I can pH it. Otherwise when my water takes on my soil pH, I get issues of it being way too low. The only time I don’t pH my RO is when it’s a seedling.
Since you already addressed the over watering issue, I think they are looking good.
I personally top my autos at 4 nodes and my Fems at about 6. I do autos sooner so they have time to recover before flowering.
Welcome to the growhood bro!
Keep up the good work!
thank you everyone i really appreciate all of the info.
@JimWantsToGrow so would i top between the 6th and 7th or between the 5th and 6th? Sorry just wana make sure i do it correctly.
Between the 5th and sixth. Leave as much of the top base on the top of the plant as you can, at least a solid 1/4-1/2" for support to hold the new nodes together at the top. Some plants will split under later weight if you don’t leave a little of the top stem in place.
So cut closer to 6th than 5th.
I make that clear enough?
