Hey ilgm community,
After a very successful first photo grow I decided to try autoflower next.
Mephisto Mango Smile, Double grape and Fugue state
Method: Coco, Perlite 70/30
Vessels: Fabric Pot 5 gallon
PH of Water, Solution, runoff: Ph is 6
PPM/TDS or EC of nutrient solution: Tap comes out with ~350PPM despite filter(Maybe something is broken in the filter), Started with ~450PPM currently ~950PPM.
Indoor or Outdoor: Indoor
Light system: 400W Full spectrum led
Temps; Day, Night: 23-26°C lights on, 20-22°C lights off
Humidity; Day, Night: 50-65%
Ventilation system: Ac infinity inline fane, 2 ducts pulling fresh air in
AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier: Currently humidifier only.
Now it’s currently day 29 from planting sprouted seedling. I know about the mistake of filling the pots too little, overwatering in seedling stage a bit and the last 2 runoffs coming out a bit higher than what I put in. ~975PPM - 1100PPM. Do i need to flush here? The fugue state does not look too terrible I think but one of the Mango smile seems kind of static for several days now. Did I ruin it or is it still going to work? What I also noticed is that it takes way too long for the medium to dry a bit. The pot of the fugue state is getting noticeably lighter after a day already while the maybe stunted mango smile could probably go 5 days before the pot getting light.
Looking great Grow Bro and with coco and synthetic nutrients I would recommend daily feeding at 800-1000 PPMs and a PH of 5.8-6.2. Feed to liberal run off…this will serve as a soft flush. I only flush to reset the PH
Welcome @Akario95
Thank you for sharing the details about your cannabis plants! Let’s address each aspect:
Nutrient Levels:
The tap water with ~350PPM (despite the filter) and the current nutrient solution at ~950PPM indicate that your plants are receiving nutrients. However, the runoff PPM levels (975-1100PPM) are slightly higher than what you initially put in.
Given the elevated runoff PPM, it’s advisable to flush your plants to prevent nutrient buildup. Flushing involves using plain pH-balanced water (without nutrients) to thoroughly saturate the medium and wash out excess salts. This will help reset the nutrient balance.
Fugue State Plant:
Since the Fugue State doesn’t appear severely affected, it’s likely still viable. Keep monitoring it closely.
Ensure that the light, temperature, and humidity conditions remain consistent.
Mango Smile Plant:
The static growth of one of the Mango Smile plants could be due to various factors, including genetics or environmental conditions.
Check for any signs of stress (yellowing leaves, wilting, etc.). Adjust the environment if needed.
Consider providing additional support (such as stakes) to encourage upward growth.
Medium Drying Time:
Coco coir tends to dry out quickly due to its excellent drainage properties. However, if it’s taking too long for the medium to dry, consider the following:
Ensure proper drainage in your fabric pots.
Monitor the moisture level by lifting the pots to gauge their weight.
Adjust watering frequency based on the weight of the pots and the plant’s needs.
Next Steps:
Flush your plants with pH-balanced water to reduce the PPM levels.
Observe the Mango Smile closely. It may recover with time.
Wow, thank you a lot for that detailed information.
Already I will put the lights a bit higher (Were about 50-60cm currently).
Will lower humidity a little bit and try to get a bit closer towards the 20°C (It’s a bit tough as that kind of growlight is a real heat generator.) Luckily it’s still rather cold outside so leaving windows open does help right now.
Will also take a look into flushing. Do I just feed right after flushing or do I wait a bit? Won’t some nutes just Flush through if the medium is already soaked with pH water?
Thanks once again for the information, it is greatly appreciated!
Welcome to the community. This group knows by experience how to help you get addicted to growing. I enjoy growing autos but my set up is hydroponic. Yours look very healthy and happy where they live. Congratulations and keep posting. Happy growing
No worries, worded it a bit badly but I meant like the first inch or two drying up which never occurred until now. I use Canna coco this time, in my photo grow I used biobizz which showed me perfectly when the girls needed water again by the first inch drying up. In canna coco it feels like it stays dark and moist looking even at the top despite the pots getting way lighter and the girls getting thirsty. I think the PPM issues in the runoff I have right now came from me being scared of drowning not fully developed roots and not watering for 2-3 days leading to salt buildup? Just a guess.
They look good! Keep temps high for now until mid/late flower. At this stage you can be feeding once every two day, this will lower your runoff ppm.
Never let coco dry, and never feed coco plain water.
Iv ran mango smiles before and it was great!! You’ll really love it! Speaking of which maybe I’ll run that again next??
Thank you! I am already more than happy with the activity, help and reassurance I am getting. Will keep this updated even if I mess up so I can learn for the next round.
Had to wait 17 hours before i could reply again.
Thank you! Will do. Runoff already came out better today.
Heard lots of good stuff about mango smile as well, hope I get them through to see it myself.
Like mentioned above, when she gets big enough, prepare to lay her down a little bit. Those holes in the tops of your containers is why they are there. Im real aggressive with my girls, so i would wait until your branches are a little bit longer to spread her out.
