First Grower Makes Mistakes

I did receive the tent.
No it isn’t set up yet, my wax ring was bad, leaking grey water on my floors, in bathroom. Tore up all the tiles today, got the new flooring at Lowe’s, and will be doing that tomorrow.
I have one more home improvement project that can’t wait, so when this is all done, Ill get the tent set up.
It’s just the tent. No extras

Look thru the topics in this apps forum.
There is a Fox Farm lady here that is on point.
She talks about how the original trio is the best when dialed in ,and that the additional stuff showed no significant difference to justify the use.

Let me find it real quick so you can read the thread and talk to HER.

I will tell you this, FF nutes are super HOT.
I start with 1/8 of the recommended dose, gradually working to no more than half recommend strength.
If you start even at half with Auto-flowering plants ur gonna see the tips of your leaves burnt
Photos are different, they take more

You’ll definitely need to start checking the runoff on the other girl as well (in the plastic pot) your runoff numbers dictate what you feed them and when you feed them and when you don’t. Without them and understanding the numbers you’re just rolling the dice every single time and you’ll continue to have disastrous results

I never planned to run two plants but the first seed I germinated never came out of the ground so then I germed two seeds to have a back up in case one didint make it and now the back up is surviving

I know it’s bad practice to not be tracking it, but I still don’t know if both girls are gonna fit in the tent properly once they are fully stretched. The second plant is more of a bonus grow if it goes to completion and I’m trying to focus on my main plant for learning but I’ll start tracking the back up too just so I have something to reference back if it keeps growing as well as it has. Things are already so tight in the tent that if my main girl stretches more and the midget plant grows even half a foot, I’m not gonna have room to rotate my main girl much

Throw up a trellis and two plants should be fine in there.

What size tent do you have ? These are autoflowers they only get so big

2x2x4 and I have my ACI humidifier inside, two 6” oscillating fans, the ionboard, the carbon filter w/fan and the ionbeams. So it’s real tight in there if I wanna try to keep the girls somewhat away from the humidifier and ionbeams. Ionbeams recommend 8-12” away and mine are like 4-5” on one side because I have two plants and can’t move her. I’ll post a picture of the tent situation when I get off work tonight

@SpaceyX hopefully that project goes/went well and you can get the tent setup. I ended up ordering the FF flowering kit after reading into it more. I’ll report back if she likes it or hates it.

I’d use a trellis net but my smaller plant wouldn’t even come close to it

Yah, 2x2 is good for snow boots and umbrellas. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Might as well go for the Sledgehammer and the kangaroots!!! And just follow the schedule. At a lower strength :flexed_biceps: ofc.
I’m using Flying Skull everything this grow.
Well, Happy Frog soil. That’s all from Fox farm.
Perlite added ( a small bag to the large bag of HF).
I’ll do the bamboo stick LST we discussed.
I’m not topping or defoliating either. Just the bamboo sticks…
I like your set up tho, and I hope that your FF experience is good! Dial back pretty tuff. I was doing 1/8 to start and work up to 1/2 and stay there unless the plant is asking for more of something.
I really don’t know much…but I KNOW fox farm nutes are super hot. So thin it out.
Frfr. I’ve burned the Blank out of plants and had to throw them away.
I wish I could remember this girls FF NUTE thread. She was spot on.

I actually grabbed growers recharge for my non feed days instead of the sledgehammer. I might regret it but we’ll see! Definitely gonna start everything at low low dosages and see how she reacts. I’ll post the exact quantities I add when I water tonight just to keep it tracked.

Pumped to see those bamboo sticks, it’s on my list of things to try in the future haha. Never heard of the flying skull brand but I’ll have to check it out

@Lostgirl basically :joy:
My plan is that I’ll buy a 5x5 when I get the house but I didint want to wait to start the hobby till I got a house because that might be years (hopefully not) so I got this little 2x2 to start learning on a small scale. Should transition nicely when I do get my larger tent though. I’ll have a better idea what’s worth spending money on and the extra things I’ll need that you don’t immediately think about.

I’ve had a 4x4 for many years and I can grow up to nine plants. I only grow Auto flowers. You can do six very comfortably.

I’ve used Flying Skull before and have friends who use it. I like it. I’m using the elite feeding schedule so there’s alot to mix. I’m using only distilled water. I’ve learned to let my plants get to drought before I water again, so it’s not that much and I got that gov’mint issued snap card for it. Hahaha.
Flying Skull is pretty good, a few major growing companies use it, especially in Florida.

I’m considering switching gears completely to breeding off the top, instead of just growing plants.

I would rather see other ppl growing my stuff.
On God, when I was cooking speed, my speed was Godzilla.
I can imagine the punch I can work into a weed strain if I get up under a good breeder and learn correctly.
I have two personal friends who breed, one is in prison. One isn’t doing anything due to end of life hospice status.

Kinda hard to pump and dying man for breeding info and I’m not sending Jpays about weed!!!

Jan 13th - Day 42 - Happy Tuesday Friends! She’s looking thirsty isn’t she, this is day four no water, BUT got some goodies in the mail today that I added into the feeding tonight. Big bloom and the flowering kit by Fox Farm.

Started with 88 oz of RO water, mixed in 1.25ml of CaliMag, 6ml of Big Bloom, and .3gs of Open Sesame. Ph’ed the water to 6.6 and watered her over the course of about 15-20 mins slowly letting each small watering seep.

My stunted girl got a heavy watering of 40 oz in her small pot yesterday, EC came out to 2400 and ph was 6.4! I decided I’m going to run a small amount of ILGM’s flowering kit to compare to Fox farms so I gave my stunted girl 1/4 recommend dosages of the flower time and plant boosters by ILGM.

Included a few updated photos of the inside of my tent so you can see the size restrictions I’m working with. Vertically I’m okay right now with a solid foot left of room till big girl is hitting the light. It’s horizontally that I’m limited, you can barely see my second pot hanging out in there because my main girl just towers her. I also need to keep them away from the Ionbeams as much as possible and I like to avoid any leaves being near the humidifier even though I have the mouth of it pointed in the corner. So that’s why I never planned to run two in this tent but here we are :joy:

Here’s a bonus pic of my stunted girl on day 18! This was the day after I transplanted her from the miracle gro dungeon I had her in, to the happy frog/ocean forest heaven she’s now residing in.

Few photos of stunted girl yesterday(day41) for reference. Comeback kid for sure, no quit in her. Smells like gasoline :fuel_pump:

Here is one picture I kept of how I use the sticks to train my branches to be a star shaped from the ariel POV. It keeps the branches and buds off each other and gets light to the bud sites without having a tie down, although I will use some tying this go, too.

Are you mixing it all up, OF & HF?
Or layering? Half and half?

@SpaceyX small pocket of happy frog where I transplanted her into, and then surrounded it with ocean forest! I believe you recommended that way early on in the grow so I had it in my notes to try.

Yes, that’s definitely best vs mixing it, idk…I’m in soley happy frog right now, but I bought two large Coco Loco bags because I was gonna use them in like a side by side comparison to soil, but I have completely switched my gears to making seeds instead.
So I’m not sure if I’m using them or giving them to my neighbor.
Happy frog seems to be really great for starting off, but I’m already giving my 2 week old ladies 1/8th recommend strength according to the chart for elite feeding.
I started LST too. On one, not the other(solo) which is in HF too.
Ocean Forrest has always been harsh for me to try to start off a seedling. That happy frog saves the day

Yeah, OF is about a months supply using just PH’d water, I try to keep my PH 6.2 but that’s me. I was told that is optimal for nutrient uptake.
I feed mine ,that veg in OF ,on day 28 that’s 4 weeks. Your right to dial back to 25% strength. I do 1/8 to start but you can try definitely do 1/4 and no worries for burn.
I’d also recommend as you use Grow Big, to also use simultaneously Big Bloom ( not Tiger Bloom, that’s for bloom only) .
Since your going all FF crazy  :joy: grab that Kangaroots.
Your plants look great. Are you doing any LST of are you just going with it?

Jan 24 - Day 53 - MAJOR UPDATE - Yeaah so haven’t had time to post in a while but things have happened  My main girl got too tall, was inches away from my light and really left me with no choice but to attempt supercropping. I tried to tie her down before coming to this conclusion, but my tent is too small with too many things in it to bend her in any direction enough. I did as much research as I could before doing the bend, but I figured because she hasn’t started flowering fully yet , I needed to do it right away.

I know super cropping an auto is less than ideal and I’ve most likely sacrificed quality and yield because of it but it was either this or she just burns inches from the light. I’m uploading a few older photos before she got to that height, and then a few of the bend and right after. Then one photo from the next morning as well where you’ll see she actually turned back and looked okay. It was really more of a softcrop because I didn’t fully snap the stem so hoping all isn’t lost but it will be a learning experience for the future no matter what. I’m curious how it turns out with as much torture as she’s been through.

As far as my stunted girl goes, she’s looking amazing, big wide leaves and smells incredible. I can see small hairs starting to go crazy and I might even see small trichs near the top. Hard to tell for she but she’s thriving.

I’ve decided if my big girl gets too stressed or starts smelling funky, I’ll just let her go outside the tent and see what happens. I’d rather focus my attention on the stunted girl at this point because she has the best chance of giving me flower to try to dry/cure. Not giving up on the big girl but just gameplanning if it comes to it.

Numbers/Nutes:

I’ve been tracking runoff on both of them now. Main girl last runoff was 1.7ms EC or about 900-1200 ppm, PH was 6.64.
Stunted girls runoff came out 2.1ms EC or 1050-1450ppm, ph was 6.2.

Gonna start giving my tall girl fox farm beastie bloomz on her next feeding. I’ve been giving her 1ml calmag each feeding just to keep the mag in balance, along with 4ml of big bloom and 1.25gs of growers recharge.

Stunted girl has been receiving small amounts of flowertime and plant booster both by ILGM. Also been giving her calmag every other feeding, 2ml big bloom, and 1g of recharge.

Anyone ever had height issues or done supercropping on an auto?

Photos:

Getting close to light

Top started to look stressed out to me and the leaves were bending oddly

Cat for height reference

She’s about 3-4 inches from my ionboard at this point if the cola is in the middle so I felt no other option but to bend.

THE BEND/SOFT CROP/SUPER CROP/IDK WHAT IM DOING

Further away pic of the bend, and a peek at my stunted girl who’s thriving !

And heres the next morning after the bend. I honestly expected her to look worse so seeing her turned around and still greenish made me feel ok about it.

I’ll upload some updated photos tonight when the lights go back on but she’s still looking pretty good. I was able to a pole in the soil to tie the bent stem down a bit so it doesn’t just grow right back into the light.

How crazy am I for doing this? @Lostgirl @SpaceyX @PogueMahone
