hello everyone, i stumbled on the forums a month or so back when i bought pineapple haze and blue cheese seeds from robert. i have been mostly lurking on here trying to digest ALOT of good info from everyone. i have posted a couple times but thats it till now. been growing to supply my wife with medicine for her MS for about 10 yrs now. i mostly grow indoors (thanks NY, they are STILL changing rules about outdoor grows 3 years after they originally made them). i had my first real outdoor grow last season. turned out pretty good. mk ultra, gorilla glue, white widow and a haze X kush hybrid i crossed. ii used a super soil i mixed up from somewhere i think it was roots organic, worm castings mycorrizhae and gaia powdered nutes supplemented during flower with compost tea.
Anyway after deciding to try jacks 321 with some recharge and Tribus ,thats all i should need besides a good draining soil, so why spend a lot on it? i am considering using “Sungro’s Sunshine Mix #4.” its a potting soil mix with sphagnum peat moss, perlite and 7 mychorrizhae species and a silica based product as well. i figured i would mix in a little worm castings (to also aid in water retention a bit) and some extra perlite if necessary. it is 35 dollars for 6cuft. $7 per 2 cuft compared to$ 30-40 for fox farms/roots organic/ coast of maine living soil etc. i dont need to pay extra for the living soil or extra nutes in the soil.
any thoughts/suggestions/comments would be very much appreciated i might try and post some pics and notes as i go . maybe monthly. alo gonna try to start the haze inside at same hours of light/ sun as when i put it out 2 weeks before solstice barring frost. thanks .
Hi the mix#4 is nice and loamy, so to keep that form yeah match the compost with some perlite, and choose the newest driest bag you can find.
@Superkurt420 is growing in that and somebody here grows in that
thanks for the reply sir! i tried checkin out @Superkurt420 's grow posts, but only found one as far as just the setup, not any of the grow. Anyway its nice to know others have done it and had success. As i spend more time on here i might be able to find their info. perhaps i may do a side by side comparison with a “supersoil” of roots organic/perlite/worm casings vs. the mix #4/perlite/ worm casings.
Yes i am using that same soil it seems like its quality qont find out until i actually start growing in it by next month hopefully
This year is going to be my first year using it haha last year i used miracal gro and it just didnt cut it this stuff should work well though i know somebody else that uses this product with good results
Hi superkurt! Maybe we can keep an eye on each other’s grows to compare notes. i am in the northeast upstate NY where before climate change we dont put anything in the ground until after memorial day to avoid late frosts. i think i might put them out around mid may and keep an eye on the 10 day weather forecasts to get a head start.
