First grow, waiting for ILGM seeds!

So much good reading here! This is exciting but man I have a headache! I’ve spent many hours trying to prepare correctly and not spend too much money.I have zero knowledge on growing anything that’s not a cactus, so I’m hoping I can do this! (I recently killed a spider plant :flushed:). Planning 2 plants, in the basement which is on the colder side right now around 55-60 at night 60-65 day with light on it brings that up a lil but not a lot.I’m on the east coast (cape cod).I’m hoping it’s not going to be too cold? Waiting on our ILGM seeds, should come any day now (got the auto 2.0 mix)

So far I have…
32x32x64 tent
Hlg 100 V2 3000k light
5 gallon fabric pots with Fox farm ocean forest soil - planning on getting some regular soil for the seedlings cause I hear ocean forest might be too hot for them.
I prepped the solo cup/dome for the seedlings
Hygrometer
I didn’t buy any wet nutrients yet as I won’t need them till later.
Ph test kit which hasn’t arrived yet but I’m hoping our tap water is in a good range.
I will eventually need an exhaust fan/filter 4” I think will be fine, any recommendations on what CFM to get for 32x32x64 tent? I’m a lil confused about that. Also the intake fan? Can I just use a regular fan blowing air in?
I also bought a Inline duct fan 100 CFM but I’m not sure if that’s what I need now?
The whole air filtration system part I’m a lil confused about, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I suggest T6 inch AC infinity and a S4 AC infinity is what im running in the same size test tent I have, but I have over two 1000watt Revolution Eva PGZX CMH Cultilux fixtures with 4 AdvancedLed XTE 300’s lights in a 48x48x70 and im running the T6 with a S4 Ac infinity and I don’t even have the control panel setup yet, I been setting it manually since I don’t have it permanently outfitted where I want to out it exactly for a flower tent for my pheno test landrace generation clones I’ve been doing lately trying to find good genetics I want to do consistently than trying to run every new seed strain that come out at seed banks, you just wont ever grow out every one to find that diamond strain that just works each time you smoke :dash: it right. Now I’ve happen to have about 4 I rotate for my oalket liking and the intake that just works and its so amazing when you rolling it knowing you about to smoke exactly what you’re body needs to find relaxed relief for about 3-4 hours.

Now im not sure on how it works in general else where in the legal industry, but anyone knows its highly regulated as far as when to harvest your plants for public consumers consumption and to me its not fair for what patients spend for how less nature the plant was when harvested for government test purposes, I think its robbery and you still will make money at the plants fill potential but again I understand why its controlled also which still sick in my opinion .

Thanks! I will definitely look into them.

@Alee21 if you running led this will work perfect. I’ll definitely be getting a T8 and used the 4 inch in my curing closet. My room runs ah little high but nothing to crazy that can an upgrade fix .

I concur. i started with a 4 inch fan and it took perhaps a month to determine it would NEVER keep up with my 3x4 tent. instead of going with the recommendations here (all these long time successful growers cant be right all the time, right?) i saved a few bucks on my next fan and bought a Vivosun 6 inch 440 CFM fan that runs at over 50 dba (that means its loud) and a separate controller. I may have saved $20.
so, my NEXT fan will probably be a AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T6.

Def LOTS of great info on this site.

Sorry, i meant to add. the reason i have held off on my THIRD fan purchase is because i am seriously thinking of waiting until i can just pop for the T8. nothing wrong with a fan that runs slower and maybe a little less often vs one that may struggle to keep up once summer is here.

Like Yoshi, I still use my 4 inch for my second tent (2x2x3 clone/seedling tent). Who knows, if I eventually get a separate Veg/Mother tent, my current 6 inch may be ok there since I will be running less watts on the lights.

Thank you! Some good points here. Trying to not spend much more $ but I also don’t want to skimp out and regret it later. I have some time to think on it. My seeds came today😀 So off to germinate!

You will never see a Bently commercial, im just saying, don’t spend cheap on your grow room and expect the best quality out of the seeds. Good accessories gives any grower more chances of just not succeeding in growing, but reaching bud weight that will serve all the purpose of the grower and the patients needs but most importantly is what environment the plant needs to produce right. You cannot expect Bently quality from a Yaris dealership or buy here pay here, I think this method of thinking you will comprehend why it’s important to do what it takes in your ability to give them the best growing environment possible so they can reach they full potential for the entire purpose. When you give your plants the best, they will perform line a spoil kid I promise and growing becomes so much easier. No nutrient deficiencies as often, plants respond and grow so rapid and beautiful and lush on schedule if not weeks faster, they drink more and the roots be massively healthy, I would not doubt in my test tent, I have over killed it with light power, but until I can get past this rescue a failed monster crop grow another grower attempted and need me to kind of help him learn the technique to that, but I have some really super pretty black and orange growing strain I want to show the forum and I have this strain that seems to grow almost albino white, really cool looking stuff, but what will determine that is the grow environment, so im putting out the cost if I shall get what im determining from the ogeno genetics especially for breeding purposes right. Start now or you will spend that same money later @Alee21

6" fan will be fine for your small tent.

soak more seeds than you expect to harvest. Some seeds don’t hatch. Some hatch grow about 2" then die. Roll of the genetic dice. Last grow, started 8 ILGM seeds…two never hatched, One grew three stunted twisted leaves then died.

soak seeds…till tap root shows…place in between paper towels n cover. keep moist NOT SOPPING WET !!!
once root is 1/4" long place in clear plastic cup with drain holes and your growing media…not fertilized!!! wet inside of another cup, use as a humidity dome. once roots are visibly growing up the sides of cups…transplant to final home. 5 gallon minimum would be best.

buy quality affordable grow items…you will using most as long as you grow.
Ever hear buy once, cry once…is true. Do best as you can afford to.

Your prefertilized FF will be good for about three months…after that you will need to fertilize.

major good thing this: Rapid Rooters very effective

Those rapid rooters do look promising. I didn’t see them today when I was at my local garden center, I did pick up some happy frog to try and start them in. I should have got perlite too but forgot it and now I have to go back tomorrow :woman_facepalming:

They work pretty good :+1:

I have successfully germinated 2 seeds, BBG at 24 hours, OGK at 48 hours. Both in a shot glass with 5 drops of peroxide. They are under soil and I’ve been watching over them misting their domes twice a day for a day and a half now. Temp is at 66, humidity 60. The light is on 24/0, it would be too cold without it, as the basement is probably in the 50’s right now. I also tried to insulate the tent by adding styrofoam plastic and cardboard to the top. I also have fish tank heater in water close by that seems to be helping a bit.

How does it look?

That will definitely get you some real pretty flower here soon, happy growing and remember less is best, you can add more later ok :ok_hand:, let the plant speak while you learn to listen :ear:, don’t force them .

If you can spring for it, get yourself a bag of perlite from your favorite local home and garden store. I think it’s the only thing fox farm soil can be improved with. Add about 20% extra perlite to your pots when you fill them with ffhf/ffof. The goodies in the soil should get you through veg for the most part. If you have a feed store locally get a 50lb bag of alfalfa pellets (horse/rabbit food). Top dress with the ground up pellets they have a growth hormone in them that will help your plant in veg a lot.

The alfalfa pellets are about $15 and 50lbs should last you a very very long time.

Alfalfa pellets? Interesting! I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the input!

They also sell “alfalfa meal” as fertilizer, but it’s the same basic material as the pellets, just a lot more cost per lb.

Get any potting soil with peat moss and add bio live 5-4-2 or happy frog fertilizer 5-8-4 with mykos and azos, you should be real dandy for the entire vegging time if put her in her final pot right after node 3 or 4 maybe, hell I go straight from the mother to dirt now with ah lil spit, honey, and synergy and they take off in about 4-7 days depending on lighting but yeah for soil that’s the easiest way to keep from having soil spike issues .
