First Grow, Any Input?

Hey all!

I finally got everything I ordered, including the AC Infinity 3x3 grow kit, additional 6in fan, IONBEAM S11 grow light bars, CloudForge T3 humidifier (I live in CT so RH is pretty decent here for growing), as well as PH/PPM Meter, General Hydroponics Flora series, General hydroponics Cal-Mag, a bottle of Nuke Em organic insecticide for prev measure, and of course the GSC Auto seeds.. (added Mycorrhizal inoculant today)
I have set the tent up and let it run for a few days to test run a dry environment without plants, and the results were passive 75-80 degree temps depending on exhaust speed and light level, and 40-55ish %RH.
I plan to start germinating today if possible, so with that said, does anyone have any experienced advice or comments on my set-up? Should I do anything different or just go at it and have fun?
PS. I do not know the name of the soil I am using, however, it was a recommendation to me from an older gentleman who runs my local hydro shop. Its an organic mixture with all the stuff everyone uses for homemade soil (I.e worm castings, peat moss, guano, and some other small amounts of natural/organic material.) He said to treat it similar to FF Happy Frog soil.

I apologize in advance to all those who have an issue with the formatting…
I tried to fix it but I’m not too sure how, so now the post looks odd.
I’m truly sorry.

Are you able to possibly just type the text into the reply box? It’s tough to see what you have as a setup. Excited for your grow :call_me_hand:t2:

Lets see if posting in the replies section works

@MidwestGuy If possible, I’d love your input as well!
I read a bunch of posts from you and also had the pleasure of interacting on another post I made asking for advice.
Also, thanks to you, I will be starting a journal soon as well!

You should raise your RH for seedling and Veg. 60-65 usually. I run 78 F 65% daytime and 70 F 60% night time. It’s just a relative reference but shoot for VPD of 0.6 to 0.8 for germination/seedling and 0.8-1.2 for veg. You’re dead on for flower, but would want to cap around 50%.

Thanks for the reference numbers! I’ll throw the humidifier in here shortly then!

I would recommend getting some mycorrhizal fungi it’s great for root development but I think you’d be fine with out it also really clean set up looks great

He did.

Looks like a solid setup, recommend no more than two plants in the space. Your lights are going to be pretty close to the plant, like 12" or less FYI.

Starting seeds seems best accomplished by using a seed starter mix (no nutes) like Daisy seed starter or regular coco coir. Do this in a Solo cup (not clear) with a bunch of holes poked in it. Use a clear Solo cup for a dome. Overwatering is the chief reason seedlings fail. I soak mine in a shot glass of distilled water and peroxide (provides O) until seed spits out a tail. Then, into the Solo cup with lights on 24/0. Keep dome on.

When hydrating coco for sprouts, I wet it then squeeze out as much water as I can before putting in the cup. Water by misting water on the inside of the dome once a day. A heating mat can help with the early days of your plant too. Once you see a root poking out of the bottom you can transplant into it’s final home.

You have to know the name of the soil…go back and find out what it is and exactly what’s in it. That is fundamental #1 and the most important part of your setup. That’s where your ladies will spend their entire life.

If it’s similar to ff happy frog then you’ve only got about 4 weeks of nutrition avaliable…after your final transplant you have at least 9 weeks…you’ll need to ammend that soil or finish with mixed nutes…and you cant possibly do that properly without knowing what you’re starting with.

Thats some solid information! I appreciate the help, I’ll be sure to use the choir I have to start a hydro-dome with the seedling.
I have the bag with the name out in the mudroom, to be completely honest I was just lazy when writing this and did not feel like checking the bag.
However, the soil mixture is Roots Organic original potting soil from Aurora Innovations.

I apologize for not having the name on hand, I was being lazy as embarrassing as that is, and did not want to go out and check.
I did go look however, and I posted the name of the soil in another comment.

I have had excellent results with Roots Organic Original soil.

Awesome! I’m glad there’s someone with positive feedback from it!
I ended up getting it simply because I trusted the gentleman at the hydro store, so I’m happy knowing it works.
