First grow in 25+ years. THC!(Things Have Changed!)

I use this range and downloaded the feed schedule online, but I’m growing in coco.

Not much to report this morning other than stuggling to get this tent around 80 degrees. Just been really damn cold outside, below freezing last 3 nights. I put a couple 45watt burples in the tent this morning to see if I can get the temps up. Warmer weather is coming though, should be good in a couple days.

@Baz4 I looked up a little info on the nutes I have. I think the coco a and coco b will be useless in ff soil. But the Boost, PK, Rhizotonic and Calmag are soil friendly. Just not sure how to use them and when. I’m hoping to do this little grow without having to spend a lot more money. :slightly_smiling_face:

First. I see you are only doing the one plant as to doing the one in 1/2 gallon of coco. A great call. Next. You are probably going to want to start practicing some LST early for this. The flower foot print is only 1 1/2’ so you will want to try and keep this as low and flat as you can. Choosing soil to go with was another great choice. It will be easier to keep your plant smaller to fit your tent. As @Nicky said. You are definitely going to want to top or fim this girl. If you want a little cheap heat for this. You can use a plastic bucket, 3 - 5 gallons. And place a 300w aquarium heater in it. With that. You could ditch the dome there and have both heat and humidity in there. I use a 5 gallon bucket in my 2x4 tent. It doesn’t add a lot. but having the extra humidity helps keep a little more heat in there. I use this little guy in mine. Just crank it all the way up and forget it

@Not2SureYet Neat trick! I actually have one of those somewhere in the attic with the fish tank that was abandoned years ago. Have to see if I can dig it out this evening. I got the temp up with the 2 burples for today. I’ll see if it can hold through the night. Just been unseasonably cold last 3 nights and I was not as prepared as I thought. I figured I be fighting heat not cold. Supposed to be back to normal temps here by Monday.
Yeah I’m going to have to do some Lst. My tent is not very tall once I add height of the pot, light, fan, and filter. I have been researching this a little bit and looking forward to it as well as some guidance on where an what to tie.
But I’m patiently waiting for this girl to make her appearance. Thanks all for tips and input. :v:

I use safety pins in the side of the pots for anchor points. If that may help down the road. I got the heater info from @Myfriendis410 He had one in his tent.

Going in to town this weekend I’ll have to grab some safety pins and padded wire. And watch some more LST videos on YouTube. :slightly_smiling_face:

@OldGypsy Yes, I read on their website they can be used in soil, just gotta dilute them. Here is the feed schedule I use to give you an idea of timing (for coco)…

After 24 hr soak in water, 24 hr in paper towel, 4 1/2 - 5 days in soil at 78-80 degrees I am pleased announce the arrival of my baby girl. I’ve fought off the urge to water her at all since dropping the seed. The temp in the tent is a balmy 80 this morning with 75% RH. I’m gonna keep her domed I think at least until she gets her first leaves grown out. My Ts600 light is 24"" above. I think I’ll probably ditch the burples today as warm weather is on the horizon. I was only using them for a little extra heat.
I think I’m correct in not watering her as I’ve read she gets the water she needs right now by absorbing humidity in the air.
I think I’ll name her Esmeralda.
Any tips at this point are welcome.:v:

Congrats! Beautiful baby girl. Careful with the hygrometer sitting in the pot. (I used some velcro tape to stick them to the walls.) Especially when you begin watering more. Will give you false high readings. Off to a great start and you have some awesome people watching over you here

Thank you @Eagles009 and thanks for hygrometer tip. Makes sense. Moving that to the wall today.
@Nicky When I do water for the first time I was wondering if I should mix a 1/4 or 1/2 strength batch of the Rhizotonic I have with my water and some CalMag or just plain Ph’d tap water for now? It’s in Ocean Forest 6:1 perlite. Thanks in advance✌

Do full strength microbes all through veg, I run mine the full grow because that’s what my preferred product suggests and I’ve been happy with the results.
Mayne I’ll try veg only vs full one day but not top of my priorities.

K. Full strength on the Rhizotonic👍. I haven’t watered since dropping the seed. I’m using a dome and it has condensation on the inside. I was planning on keeping the dome unti the first leaves are grown out a bit. So next question is when should I water her, how much? Signs/symptoms; too much/not enough water.

Gotta feel it out don’t soak it, let it drying out a bit.

Once it gets that set of leaves take the dome off, ensure your humidity is nice and high in the grow environment (humidfior) and give the plant a light breeze as this stress from it shaking a bit builds strength and roots.

Mind if I tag along @OldGypsy want to see how your NL is doing. Our times are almost identical so im curious to see how each compare.

@IrishBuck Absolutely man. I’m following yours as well. The NL auto I’m growing is from ILGM. The seed was a little over 2 years old but still germinated and popped out of soil in about 5 days so I think it’s alright. Looks good this morning, begining of day 2.

I see you’re in 7gal fabric pots. I’m in a 5gal fabric. We’re both running in “hot” soils, I guess that’s what you’d call it. I’m in FoxFarms Ocean Forest. It will be interesting to see how far these soils will take these plants before they get hungry. I haven’t watered since dropping the sprout but I think a little drink is in her near future.
Probably tomorrow. I mixed some 3/4 strength Rhizotonic (rooting stimulator) and some 3/4 strength CalMag in tap water. I’ll ph it to 6.5 before using it. I’m not sure as to how much I’m going to water but going to stay 3" away from plant. I don’t know maybe a cup or two. Still using a dome over her right now and it has a good amount of condensation inside it.
Also been running my lights 24/7 but will probably cut back to 16 on 8 off soon as it is warming up here, I probably won’t run my lights from noon til 6 pm to help with my temp and RH.
But yeah man! Happy growing :slightly_smiling_face: Cheers:v:

The similarities are freaky. Both NL and BB popped on 4/24 and running lights 24/7 for first week then go to 18/6 took my dome off when they made their appearance and watering around plant to moisten soil. As for soil I am using a water only soil and will supplement with “stump tea” wich our local supply shop provides for free every tues. This week will be interesting with the roller-coaster weather we r having here literally getting all this week minus snow curious if that will have an effect on temp/rh control as i do like to keep my windows open. And I definitely will be upgrading my lights yesterday. My lil 180w led is not going to cut the mustard.

Day 3 above ground. I gave 4 ounces of water today with Rhizotonic and CalMag ph 6.35 was careful to stay away from stem. Still under the dome for another day or 2. I did have the 2 extra burple lights in tent last night to keep temperature around 80.

@OldGypsy

Looking good! You shouldn’t have to feed anything until week 4-6, or when it shows def, right? I know that soil is loaded.
