First Grow - ILGM Sour Diesel Seedling Help

Hi everyone,

This is my first grow of ANYTHING!!!
I’ve been lurking on the site for a few months before deciding to dive into planting and post. I am reaching out as I am trying to grow 2 Autoflower seeds, but I am not sure if my newly planted seeds look healthy.

Can anyone take a look?

So a couple of things you can do:

First; dome your seedlings with a clear Solo cup or 2 liter pop bottle. Then when you water, use a spray atomizer and mist the inside of the dome twice per day for the first ten days. That’s all they need.

Second, plants appear to be stretching a bit so you can lower lights down a bit. If they are 24" above then drop back to 18" or so.

Third; you need to PH your water before applying it. Or you can buy a bottle of distilled water and use that without PH’ing. No nutes for the first couple of weeks either. Just water.

When you start a nutrient regimen start at around 250 to 300 ppm and work up to full strength. Solution at full strength should be no higher than around 800 ppm or so.

Those lights unfortunately won’t be enough to properly flower off your plants at 100 watts each. You need double the amount of light you have now.

@Myfriendis410 ok, thank you so much. I will do that right now, and circle back with an update.

I should add that you do have adequate lighting for veg. That should give you some time. If you are looking for lights you might just invest in a decent Quantum Board and be done. Horticulture Lighting Group has a variety of lights and I believe their QB260 or 260 Rspec would do a 2 X 4 space.

You can also bump up your light time to 24/0 for the first ten days as well. It will help them get established if kept under lights and a dome. I’d still give em night hours when they’re fully in veg though. Something like, with those lights, 20/4 to hit your daily light interval (how much radiation the plant can absorb.

Also; no need to run an exhaust fan or carbon filter yet. If those are connected and on; I’d turn em off to conserve the carbon (humidity will kill a filter). Temps could come up to 75 to 78 too which won’t hurt either.

You’re off to a good start; just a couple of tweaks to get on a good start for your girls. Tag me with the @ sign: @Not2SureYet tag you’re it. OP is growing SD autos in coco; any advice?

@Myfriendis410 you actually help solidify my decision. I have been looking for a full spectrum grow light and stumbled upon HLG after reading a few threads here. I was torn on the HLG 100 V2 version, but wasn’t sure if it was a good fit.

I’m going to go ahead and purchase the light QB260, as I have more seeds that I would like to grow on my 2nd round.

@Not2SureYet I am open to any knowledge you are willing to share also, and thank you!!!

He should be along. He’s a mad auto grower and has many HLG lights. They really are top tier. You can do better with diy but this is mighty close to state of the art.

The metric (which is kind of a poor one) is to compare adequate wattage/square foot which for everything but high end LED’s is 50 watts per square foot to flower off properly. With these gucci lights that number drops down to around 30 watts per. That’s almost half as much power for a more targeted spectrum (and it’s silent too haha). Your existing lights will veg plants and you may want to set up a second space so don’t ditch em.

Ok…I ordered a 3x 3 Mars hydro tent during Amazon’s Black Friday sell. I was hoping that once I get the hang of growing, i could expand. With your suggestion, I can use both for my whole grow process. LOVE IT!!!

@Myfriendis410 just wanted to provide a quick update w/pics.

So, I raised the plants up to 24", they were originally on the floor at 40" away from the light. Not sure how I missed this.

Also, I have been using distilled water instead of tap. And increased the light schedule to 20/4. Both plants grew a long stem yesterday, so I added more dirt to support the weight. I am picking up some more light hangers from the nearest hydroponics store bc I don’t have anything that I can use to raise the plants closer, and the light are as low as possible.

Plant#2 is growing straight up, while Plant #1 has done this weird bend.

Grow Tent

Wally World sells (so does Costco) a folding table with adjustable legs. Plastic too. The one I just bought is 2 X 4.

@Countryboyjvd1971 @Myfriendis410 if possible, can you take a look at my newest pictures and give me an assessment on the leaves?

Thank you

You can pile coco up against the stem if they’re still leggy; won’t hurt em a bit.

These are about 2 1/2 weeks old? It’s probably time to start supplementing (as coco is nutrient free) but you will want to start at a low TDS like 250 ppm and continue to water sparingly. A dome is great until they outgrow it too.
