First grow help

I am no help here. I always feel like the bad guy for posting stuff like this. But having grown with vipars and running out of room in a 80" tent. And growing autos. I feel like I can offer some advise for this. There is no way I could grown an plant in that tent with out using a QB light. mainly because of a few things. That tent will be like an oven to start with. I have a 30" x 22" x 80" closet for my seedlings. I have a vipar 450 light in there. my temps on the low side are 75 degrees. If I close the doors… I can be in the 90s fast. Next is you need at least 18" from the light to the top of your plant if you don’t want to burn the plant up. From what I have seen. Northern lights are not small plants. So 2’ is not much room to even do a lst. I agree with the larger pot. it will help slow down the growth some. In a 3 gallon. It would start growing on top faster. You have to run the fan an filter out side the tent. I am sure you know this all ready.
Now the plus side. If this is an auto. Could can leave the tent partially unzipped to help vent heat
out. I would make sure you top the plant. That will help keep the height down. I would also be super cropping her as needed. If you figure your pot is 1’ tall and the lights take up about 20" of the space. it means you have to keep the plant to about 16" tall. You should be able to pull that off in soil. The 600 light will be the killer here. it is going to put out a ton of heat and be strong enough you will not be able to get it to close to the light. Going from my grow. I used 450 lights and a 600.
Another way to give your self a cushion is to feed this less than normal. That will help to proven nute burn.
This is only my o2 though. I am only bringing up what I see can be issues so you can have a plan B if needed

I should add. If I was doing this. I would do one thing for certain. I would cut a square out of the roof of the tent so I could set the light on top of the tent on the out side. This would keep most the heat out of the tent. It would be easy to make a cover for the roof of the tent for when you don’t need it open.
Again, just thinking if this was me. I will be following along and wishing you the best :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m going to take everything you said into consideration and most likely cut a square open on top of the tent or get a taller tent when I see I’m having the light problem. Hope you don’t mind me tagging u for questions during this grow. I’ll be uploading pics and questions. I’ve read that topping is too stressful for auto grows. I guess I’ll have to try my best to make this work. I’m afraid a lot of smell will be coming out of the tent with the top cut open and door maybe unzipped alittle. I will be investing in a bigger tent after my first grow for sure to avoid these problems. Do u recommend and compact autos to grow in a tent this size?

Would lst and scrog be useful in this setup?

Topping is no big deal. And if some thing were to happy. It would work in your favor here. You don’t want a tall plant. A scrog could help some. I have mine set to use as a 2x2 or 2x4 top. If you use a scrog. It will need to be used as a scrog. And not just a plant support. I know of a few autos that would be great for that tent. Nirvanas swiss cheese. My bubble gum was small. A west coast in a scrog would be good. The blue dream autos I did could be kept manageable in a scrog. I could come up with more. Stay away from sativas though. They are taller than indicas. Height wise. Feel free to tag me any time. I will tag you into my grow. You can see 3 autos I have going in there. One is in a scrog. The other 2 are in a 2x4x 72 tent. Right now. You will not have to worry about smell till about week 4 of flower. And I wouldn’t cut now. Only if needed.

Thank u. I appreciate all the help from u and everyone else. I’m going to check out those compact autos for next grow. Tag me in anything I can learn from. I have my seeds in a glass of water and tomorrow will put them in a paper towel hopefully and start this up :pray:t3:

Just keep them warm and you should do good  I will try and keep up here. if I seem lost. just tag me here and there to help me find my way back

No problem. I’m going to start a fresh journal in a few days when I plant my seed and stay just in that one instead of me bouncing around making new topics and losing some of u guys that have been giving me advice. New to this forum, didn’t know how to keep things going in one thread :joy: I’ll be tagging u And a couple of others. going to post pics and write up what I’ve started with again just to refresh the memory lol

The heat the ts600 is giving seems like keeping them cool would be the challenge rather than warm :joy::joy:

I was thinking last night. You may want to run your light in the tent for an hour or so and see what the temp is. I have a 22"x302"x54 "area as a guess for my closet I germinate in. I am hitting high 80s even with the doors open with the vipar. I think that may be you main issue. To much heat. At least you are finding issues that can come up and can plan for them before you start. My low in the closet with the door partially open was 75 last night. Where I would like to be all the time.

Yes that’s what I’m going to do today. Going to leave it on overnight to see temp. I have my seeds in a wet paper towel today. Getting excited lol

When I plant into soil After paper towel, should I wet soil first? If so, how much? Put a dome?

I better tag some others with more knowledge here. I have never used soil my self. @Myfriendis410, @Missiles, @dbrn32, @MattyBear I always use a rapid rooter in a solo cup when I start. And I do dome them.

Do you Have to remember the names of the people u tag or is there a way to like save them? Lol

You have to remember them. or maybe start a word file for them? I have been here for a while. So I have remembered most that I talk with frequently. The hard part for me can be remembering who grows in what

That’s my problem.

In your journal you will have a record of folks you tagged. You can ‘copy and paste’ those into new posts.
