First grow help

Nothing wrong with wetting your feet first. If you can pull off successful grow in small tent like that you can grow anywhere.

Setting fan up outside will buy you some room for sure.

The ts 600?

Yes ts600

Nah, it’s a 100 watt light. 2x2 is about right size space for it. You could probably even go a little bigger.

Ok cool. I thought maybe it was too much. I don’t know how tall the plant will get. It’s an auto

Hard to say with them. Sometimes they flower pretty fast and others not so much.

Just figured out how to tag u all, been posting earlier but would like to hear from u all again
Built my tent today 2x2x4. The light is the highest I can tie up. I can zip tie the light directly to the top poles if needed and that’ll raise it another 7 inches. Worried the light will be too close to the plant. I don’t know how tall the auto northern lights will grow. I put two 5 gallon fabric pots to just see what kind of room I’d have. Should I attempt to plant two of them? Should I stick with the 5 gallons or go down to 3 gallons? Going to have to put carbon fan on the outside I think. Also putting pics of seeds. Not sure how to pick them out. I have 7 but don’t want to waste any germinating a couple and end up throwing them out since I’m going to plant 1 or 2. Is there any signs to look for on seeds to pick out the best looking ones that look like they would be successful in crack/rooting? Lol I can’t take the pic any closer without it getting too blurry. Thanks for the help, I can’t do this without u all. @dbrn32 @Big123 @Covertgrower @Not2SureYet @Bogleg @Myfriendis410

I’m a small plant and run a lot of them kinda guy through and through. If you’re new to growing, I would suggest the 1 plant in 5 gallon. Get use to how they grow and train the plant to have a low canopy. Once you complete the grow and have a good idea of what you’re looking at, then see if you want to run multiple plants in smaller pots.

I also recommend the 5 gallon. It’s large enough to buffer out ph swings.
Happy growing. :seedling:

Put everything but the light and inside fan for moving air outside of the tent. Filter, exhaust fan, intake fan, etc. All outside the tent. You won’t have any room for anything else in the tent.

Put the light as high as you can get it. I would go ahead and zip tie it up. Make sure to leave a few inches between the tent ceiling and the light.

I have only grown one Northern Lights Auto. I grew it outdoors in a super soil plot and it grew to around 30" tall.

I am not a great autoflower grower (which means I am not a great grower :D). IMHO they are unforgiving. You have to be careful you don’t slow them down because you don’t get to just veg them longer like with a photo. As a result, training the plant should almost all be low stress training. And you should ideally figure out how you will grow them with minimal transplanting.

Also, I strongly urge you to just grow one plant. I also strongly urge you to just drop one seed - any of them will do. If the first seed doesn’t germinate, then we can discuss why and drop a second seed. I’d hate to see you end up with more germinated seeds than you have room to grow.

Shit, I feel like I set myself up for disaster with a tent this size. Going to try and do one and see what happens. If it is successful, going to upgrade to a bigger tent, at least a taller one. Space is limited in my apartment but I do have a big wall closet that’s about 120 inch in length and from floor to ceiling high that I’d eventually like to convert into a grow. Just dropped my first seed in a glass of water. Hopefully my first grow doesn’t end in shambles.

Yep sticking with the 5 gallon. Orders 3 gallons though. I’ll save for after this grow to mess round with in the future. Not a time for me to experiment. Already nervous about tent size lol

The light frame does get pretty hot. Was concerned about zip tying too high up. Wish me luck lol

That tent size is fine and lots of people around here grow lots of weed in 2x2x4 tents.

The first thing I would do is set up the tent, run the light like you had a plant in it, and take temperature and humidity measurements for 24 hours. You want to get the tent environment dialed in as much as possible (specifically determine how hot it will get with the light on, fans running, etc.).

Then I would start reading every northern lights auto grow journal I can find.

Right - and I presume the Mars light has fans that need room to clear air.

It’s the ts600 no fans on the light lol
Also, I plant on having the seed sit in water and then paper towel to root, when I put it into soil should I just leave it as is or put a dome on it? I see a lot of people using the dome

I agree with bogleg, you can successfully grow in your tent. Its really about making the space work instead of determining you’re going to do this or that and try to make it work in the space you have.

You can probably source a small clip on fan to put up in corner blowing over top of light. They cost about $10 depending on where you get. If you don’t already have one, probably grab a few as they can also use as circulating fans.

@CannaNewbie

Thanks for the tag, you have some sage advice from @dbrn32 and @Bogleg
I would study this too.

You can use a dome or not. The bottom line is that seedlings require higher humidity (70-75%), and so the dome is the easiest, cheapest way to keep humidity up for them. But if your humidity is already that high in the growing space, you don’t need to cover them, IMHO. Chances are you’ll want to cover them.

I soak my seeds in bottled water for about 18 hours, in darkness, some of mine will start splitting by then, I plant about 1/4 inch deep in soil, lightly cover them with soil, and water gently. I spray with spray bottle for the next few days to keep moist.

Many people love and use the wet paper towel method with great results.
