First Grow; First post

As the subject line denotes…I am a total noob to growing. Just germinated my first set of 10 seeds(not from ILGM yet), had these saved up from smoking in-case I decided to try growing.

I do understand that may cause my results to vary. Just hadn’t found you guys yet before I started. I did get 9 out of the ten to germinate using the water soaking method.

I have them all in seed starting cups, except one which I went ahead and planted directly into it’s 5 gallon home.

My thinking is to keep it simple, and low cost if possible for my first grow, then take what I learn and apply more budget. That said, I was thinking to germinate and start healthy seedlings, then transplant to 5 gallon buckets then let them grow outside.

Is this the simplest way? Or is there a better way to start? Would love any wisdom you are willing to give.!

Looks good! Welcome to ILGM!
Your title is very similar to my first post as well. Using the search function you can learn a lot from my first adventure in growing here on the forum as well. Lighting was the single most important factor. Happy growing. :seedling:

Thanks @Covertgrower! I’ll search it up now.

Growing can be easy but in reality, its not. So much is involved. Water, nutrients, humidity, temperatures, insects outside, pH, PPM and mold. Just off the top of my head. But good luck.

For me…its all about the lights since I love growing 7 foot trees indoors. :+1::+1::+1:

Welcome aboard…:+1:

Welcome to the community ! sounds like you got a plan. It’s a good feeling to see them heads popping through the soil . Good luck moving forward.

Quick update on my sprouts. Lost a couple due to heat, but everything else is looking good.

just got home and when I brought my sprouts in from outside they are leaning over something fierce. Gave them a good spritzing of water. Help What happened did they get too hot, too dry help?

@Covertgrower any help?

If you put a dome over it, it’ll be better. They lose Moisture through their leaves.

Copy that @Covertgrower …took the domes off those two today.

SMH I’ll learn

Thanks!

Did you have it domed overnight? How close was your light? 18-24 inches is adequate.

The leaves look like they have “bubbles” on them. I first though water drops but the soil looks dry.

Yes it has been domed. My light was a bit closer more like 10-12 inches away. I will readjust it.
