First grow ever, any advice would be appreciated

So, while checking on Charlie and Marley yesterday I noticed Charlie had some coloring on his leaves…I was thinking maybe I had my new lights to close, they were around 18” from top of plants… I raised them to 28” from top. But I checked again this afternoon and it looks a little worse, plus there are holes in my plant? It is only their 2nd day with these lights. I went from a 300w and a 150w to 2 600watts… I have one Bloomspect SL600w over each plant. Is this to much or is this a totally different issue? They have dimmers on them and I started on the lowest setting and moved it up little by little until i got to the setting that is recommended by the manufacturer for this stage of growth…

Any advice or diagnosis would be appreciated.

Well, I just woke ‘em up from their 4 hour nap…
I went in optimistic and with fingers crossed hoping to see some, just a little maybe, improvement…
unfortunately Charlie looks about the same, not sure what to do if anything, but mainly worried my lack of experience will cause me to do the wrong thing.
What you say @Zee @Cannabian @BobbyDigital @kellydans… any and all input is always welcomed…

Hey @Zee I didnt top this plant, how many colas do you think it will get?

of course its a lot bigger now but… if that plant were to go into flower at that point? Maybe 1 main central cola and 20 or so decent side colas. Plus all the dollar buds up the branches. But this plant wont go into flower for 2 and a half maybe 3 more months? By then we are talking loads of dope without so much as a pinch! But she will get topped because the genetics is wanted by others.

IMO, you got a big swing in RH 55 to 76. That’s higher than what I grow in, so please don’t take my advice as a final word. What I understand and read, leaves are what soaks up a majority of water and that includes RH. She needs to dry out. Those leaves won’t heal. Just let them be.

In a nutshell, she is carrying to much water, and a slight breeze from a fan, can cause those holes you see… again, just IMO. Give her a few days…let her get dry.

@Zee okay that makes sense, I’m guessing if it were the lights Marley would be showing some signs.
Charlie has been a stubborn( yet persistent) little booger from day 1… he has always struggled.
Hey I was thinking about using a Scrog method(again a newbie here) was wondering when to hang and at what height to hang the net? Sorry for the subject jumps but when I say newbie I mean all I know is plant a seed, give it water and sun, and a plant grows… I appreciate your time and advice.
If these two make it, it will be because of the people on this forum!!

You think I should lower my lights back to 18”?
Or should I leave them high, especially if I decide to scrog?

I’d go to 18"

Going back and looking at your pictures leafs look a little puffy and over hydrated. Leafs heavy drooping down .Try letting the pot dry out for about 3 days . How often are you watering and how much. Just my thoughts.

@kellydans about 2 weeks ago( 3 weeks old) I watered a little much I was told, I watered till I had a little runoff. I haven’t given any substantial water since really… I have since learned to spray in a 6” circle around the plant and I have done that twice a week for the last couple of weeks. But it’s not a lot at a time at all… to me it doesn’t seem enough. Being 5 gallon pots I thought they would dry out pretty quickly…okay I feel a little better now though. Water seems like an easy fix, I’m going to let them dry out for a few days and drop my lights back down to 18”…
another question, when I checked on them this morning, my temp had gone up to 80 the highest it has ever gotten, my humidity dropped to 49. They usually stay pretty close to 74 and 55…any reason why the all of the sudden change? Thank you guys a lot…

And why is there such a big difference in my temp and humidity? Is this normal?

Yeah! you will get the watering it just takes a couple times. Small plants always test my patience.
plants need water they just don’t need overwatered. I can usually tell when my plants need watered by the weight of the pot. Once my plants get going good I usually water every 3 days. That gives it time to dry out in between watering. You are okay at 80 degrees temperature. Lot of things can vary the temperature the room or area you’re pulling your fresh air from could be changing temperature. I try to control the temperature and humidity in the room I’m pulling my fresh air from which gives me better control of both inside tent.

@dbrn32 hope you don’t mind the tag, but I have a question about my lights setup and from what I can see on here you are the one I need to be talking to…
I have 2 Bloomspect SL600w… one over each plant in a 24”x48”x60” tent. The average PPFD for 2x2 is 384… My question is; are these enough for Flowering? If not, 1. I was thinking of adding 2 more of these. 2.maybe looking into getting 1 hlg light if needed. Have a budget of $300… would love to know what you think.

The 384 umols/s comes from par map they lust in advertising or you measured that? You could probably lower light some to increase intensity ar main part of canopy, but you will lose a little coverage.

Could you possibly get picture of driver label? Limited information on then online, I would like to get better idea of power consumption.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I’m just taking their word for it, haven’t measured… I think this what you want to see?

100 watt driver, about what I expected.

Two more would probably put you where you want ti be, but I don’t know if that will be best way to spend your money. And $300 is a little shy of light I would typically recommend for that space. Doesn’t really matter in grand scheme as it’s sold out everywhere anyway. What are chances that you will upgrade to larger space in future?

I’ll have at least 3-5 more grows in this tent before I can upgrade. I won’t mind paying more if it’s what I need. Especially if I can use it in a bigger tent later without burning my plants while in this tent…
My plan is to eventually use this tent for veg and get a bigger one for flower, but honestly that’s probably a year or 2 away…

@dbrn32 know anything about these? Am I on the right path or is this to much light? What’s the difference in the two?

The 260 xl kit is the model I would go with for 2x4, absolutely the right path. Then if you moved to a 4x4 two of those 260 xl kits would be a great setup. Lights you have now would be solid veg setup then too.

Thanks @dbrn32, was hoping you’d say that… I appreciate your time and quick response man.
This is what I’ll go with then…!!!Happy grows!!!
