This method doesn’t really make a lot of sense. You want to make sure you have reasonable amount of airflow through plant, but after that your lower leaves hurt nothing. 100% of light hitting dirt is wasted. You should clear out large leaves at top of canopy that will shade colas, leave lowers that aren’t in the way to process light energy.
@dbrn32 thank you. I did do this 1 time, but always saw the bottom, so just left it the way it was. So many different opinions on here. I have kept with a bunch that I can understand. Like, you are the head light guy. …and got me in the right direction after i bought 2 lights that would not be enough. Thanks again
I wanted to give an update to my original post. I followed the suggestion made by many of the much more knowledgeable people here (thanks so much everyone!) and mildly cleared out some of the undergrowth to provide more air movement. My research told me that pruning of any kind was not such a good idea for auto plants and especially in flower. So I didn’t do much with the top as tucking would not have accomplished much at this time and I didn’t want to start cutting at this stage of the flowering.
I also moved my small fan to the bottom of the tent and directed it to not blow directly on the plants. Hope this was right…
There are three plants in this 20"x36"x55". The two in front are clearly more developed than the one in the back, which germinated a week after the other two. It looks pretty full and healthy to me. The dilemma I am going to face is that this is the only space available to me for this grow. When it is time to chop the two front plants, what am I to do about the one in the back? That tent is also to be used for drying and then curing the harvest. So then, the question I’m hoping to get some advice on is what should I do with the 3rd plant?

Trichomes dont even matter at this point. You want nearly all those white hairs to turn brown and recede back into the calyx’s then start checking trichomes for cloudy to amber depending on the high you’re looking for. Those buds will double in size and weight over the next 4+ weeks
@plumbdand, thanks for the reply. I can’t imagine the buds getting twice as big… that would be incredible!
As long as you have enough light and feed and water them properly they should fatten up quite a bit
Waiting long enough for the buds to ripen properly is one of the biggest challenges for a new grower.
It is agonizingly and excruciatingly slow. You want to gouge your eyes out just waiting. And you’ll go back and forth, and back and forth, chop or no chop?? Confusing and uncertainty abound. LOL
Just be patient and wait till you see only a few white pistils still on the plant… then wait another week but watch trichomes at that point to find the optimal timing.
If I did it, you can do it too.

Update time. Despite having been diagnosed by @6stringT with EHS 
, I think I really am much closer to harvest. I’m hoping to avoid a “couch lock” crop. I’d really appreciate some feedback/suggestrions based on these photos. And as always, thanks for being such an ammazingly supportive community!
You are safe from couch lock but…EHS is getting to you!
I see white pistils, canoeing leaves, new growth topping the bud in the first pic. Is your light a bit close? I’ve tried to get one plant to finish by moving the light closer…wrong! I got fox tailing and new growth all over the plant with new clear trichomes. This seemed to decrease the THC over all. I later learned that reducing light levels and time (a bit) would get them finished sooner. But yes you are closer to harvest with every few days that go by. Nice looking plant though.
@6stringT, Thanks for the reply! The problem is that my light is raised to the max in my small closet tent (20" deep x 36" wide x 54" tall). Light is on a 16 on 8 off schedule as it is autoflower. I don’t have a control on the light to dim it down. Would a standard dimmer for a regular lamp work?
Re. Dimmers, IDK! Good Q for @dbrn32. I’ve cut autos to 12/12 but even some say 11/13. Not too sure about that either. You may need to selectively harvest buds that look ready…and smoke some to help with your EHS…I kid.
