First auto grow makeing sure things are ok

Hey there this is my first auto grow and was just wondering what you all think of my plants. I bought w.w autos and im running them under a 400w hps in happy frog fox farm. This is my first auto grow so its all new to me but i have two plants going and one is way ahead of the other they have both been in veg for almost 4 weeks now. I wanted to make sure everything looks good. Any suggestions and opinions are much appreciated.

Hey welcome to the community, plants headed in right direction so far so good. If could take pic in natural light can get a better look at your color and leaves. But at a glance :+1:

Welcome digit ,
Girls looking good !! Stick around, plenty of great help here for your grow. I got 2 black Widow photos in 2nd week of flower. I just popped 2 gold leaf autos im throwing in with the widows. Lookin to have a bangin 4th of July !!

Your off to a good start.
Lift your light higher your leaves are taco on the first plant because of it. Your node spacing on that one is also very tight.
Lift your 2nd plant up on a box to get her closer, she seems a bit stunted. What’s her pH & PPM ?
You’re gonna like this hobby :grin:

I will be around ive been told this community can be a life saver. Thank you for your in puts i wasnt sure if the one was stunted because they both popped out of the dirt with in 24 hours of each other and one is working on its 6th node wear the other is only on its 3rd node. And ill post more pictures tonight with natural light.

Thanks @BigItch thats what i was wondering if she was stunted her spaceing is really tightband it all happened when i put her under the hps and was trying to figure out distance from plant and burnt the top leaves and she just seemed to almost stop growing all together.

I agree with what others said, it looks like your light might have gotten a little close, causing some of your leaves to get hot and curl up.

Looks like a great start though!

Thank you all for your input i wasnt sure if they were to small there 4 weeks old and everything i read says they should start flowing soon and i wasnt sure if they were normal or behind. Ive never grew autos before so im use to a big plant there before flowing starts.

Right. They’re quite young and HPS is a great light provider so it can probably be 2 to 3 feet away and still get the same results.
I used to grow MH / HPS but the electric bill was killing me.

Im waiting to see what the monthly bill is going be this is my first indoor grow as well as first auto grow. But everything i read said they hps was a great choice. And now im just trying to hone it all in and figure everything out on the fly lol.

Here’s what an average auto should look like over a 6 week period.
The seedling was photo dated Feb 4th
The older dated March 10th
You’re stunted but hopefully we can help you fix it before flower.:grin:

Thank you @BigItch thats what i was expecting is something more like your pictures. Idk what ive done wrong but its clear i messed up somewear. Do you think i should feed them some nutrients.

I think you should check your run off pH & PPM. Doing anything before you know that information does more harm than good. Do you know what you’re at now?

WELCOME

what size container? If it is FFHF, and in a big enough container, you will have to start feeding 30 to 60 days out. I stopped checking run-off for ppm and ph; it’s messy, time consuming and in my opinion not worth the hassle. I fed every other watering or so and ph’ed to 6.5 every time. If/when you think your having ppm or ph issues, then check them… or just flush and re-set your numbers with properly ph’ed nutes solution… problem solved.

Also, think about using Sledgehammer as directed. Especially if using FF nutes.

I also see a probe of some type. Is that a hydrometer? I would not recommend those if that is what it is.

Autos can be challenging. Once the “clock” starts, you gotta get everything right. I see no advantages in autos. They are NOT easier than photos, and in many ways they are harder. The only “advantage” is you don’t have to change you light timer to 12/12. And because YOU dont control the vegetative state length… it is not an advantage.

Literally anything that stunts growth will have a negative effect on yield. You have to have your soil, nutes, water, lights, airflow, ph, pest control, etc. ALL under control from the very beginning.

All that said, she doesn’t look bad. I dont think its too much light but maybe too much heat from the light. Are you running a light schedule?

@NYDon you only pH the water for your autos and feed every week without checking?
Seriously a boss move. I do my Photos like that.

when I don’t have my autos dialed in perfect I end up with a shytty headache.

I did check the ppm and ph of the nute/water before use. I adjusted ppm to 1100 - 1400 and ph to 6.5 after nutes are right. Flush and Sledgehammer to schedule. If you follow the rules, the water/nutes you put in will keep your numbers in line. Usually… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

With a 20% - 30% run-off, the soil numbers should be very close to the water/nutes solution numbers.

But honestly, i moved from soil last year and will never go back. DWCR is so much easier and faster with MUCH greater results. At least for me.

I will not grow autos again. Mine grew well, but one mistake can take a toll. Some on here grow autos with fantastic results.

:point_up_2: my thoughts on that :love_you_gesture: @MissingDigits035
