Field of Dreams Grass Grow…

I have 2 traps set right outside of my gardens . I think the squirrels must of seen the fate of the 2 woodchucks , 3 racoons , and a cat that found themselves roped off and said nope , i aint f- ing around with this guys stuff ! :joy:. I can care less about the 6 tomato plants . I don’t like em anyway . Its the watermelon that I’d be really butthurt over if they got into . Cause there is only 1 .
So it might help a bit if ya put a couple traps around next time ?

Oh and I ended up harvesting a few ear of corn and had my first taste last night . Cooked some pork chops , Annie’s white cheddar and shells , with copy cat recipe of red lobsters crispy brussel sprouts, and an ear of corn and it was freaking off the chain . I’m not sure if it’s because it’s been awhile since I’ve had it , or because it taste better knowing I grew it , and or it really was better than store bought but it was mmmm mm yumm yum good . :cowboy_hat_face:

Btw those look nice n healthy ! Are you living soil and organic amendments or what do you use?

Thank you

@Took1-4theteam I have used NO nutrients, no amendments or pesticides, they are planted in the ground that I just tilled this year. The only thing that is not natural is the Electroculture antennas
What type of traps are you using I only have 1 live trap that is pretty big I can purchase smaller ones if that’s what you have used.
Thanks for sharing your technique

Dropping some fruit porn LOL:

Black Crim, Romas and golden Cherries. We’ve already given 4 each of these boxes away, made salsa, lasagna sauce, and bbq sauce. I don’t think the neighbors will answer their doors anymore so may have to take them to some of my customers and there are tons more coming!

I wish I cold grow corn… I’ve tried twice… oh well… the only fruits and veggies that survive, are in my critter-proof cage.

If I was your neighbor I’d open the door with an empty basket and a smile! That’s just fantastic!!

That’s what I have is the bigger racoon live traps . I typically use the traps to get squirrel and racoons out of the attics of rental properties I work at . Sometimes I’ve found that not just racoon but squirrel to can be pretty smart and take your bait without setting off trap . Had to go back to the drawing board . :joy:. So what I found to fix that is to cut a piece of plywood or PVC sheet in a square to fit inside of trap right by the toggle/ trigger . Then drill about a 2 inch hole at the bottom to funnel them so they have to step on the trigger to get to bait . Drill 3 little holes on each side then secure with some wire and that’ll get em . Make sure you take them miles away or they can find their way back .

Nice haul! I pulled a lot of romas last night to make pizza sauce. Also one gigantic chili pepper? of some sort since Tarzan didn’t put the name stake in the ground.

When we shop for our vegetable garden beds Tarzan just picks by name. “Ooooh Abe Lincoln tomatoes? They must be good.”

Great lookin grow man. Ive been noticeing you like the solid, plastic pots, any reason why? Over fabric pots? Or is it just what you have and like? Ive tried both, but prefer fabs,
Gonna go in ground next year outside, but im wondering if i should try plastic for my indoor this winter🤔

Probably could get away with watering allot less in plastic as to fabric every other day . Something different I’m going to do next year’s season is going to be using some mulch as well . Helps with maintaining moisture in soil but also helps against snails n slugs from what I just read .

Nice haul and you can grow corn . Try it once more and third time will be a charm . :+1:. Just keep em in the critter proof cage till they get of decent size . They like a heavy fertilized soil to . I paid 50 bucks to have a tractor scoop of cow compost and a scoop of just regular topsoil from his farm and used about a 50/50 mix . Then my typical once a week of greengro biologicals. 1 tbsp of nature’s brix and 1 tablespoon green amino per 5 gallon of water . A little down to earth feathermeal for added nitrogen .
Then when it starts fruiting the same greengro formula but add 2 tbsp of bloom and last 4 weeks add flower finisher . And top dress down to earth seabird guano . Is a simple, quick , no messy flushing or watering to run off and testing with tds meters or flushing or any of that crap . Is a basic formula I used for all my gals , veggies , and flowers . A little silica to … Then a few super brewed worm and cow shit compost teas here n there with a combo of all above listed . Oh yeah I do still pH my to and or pond water to 6.-6.5 even being organic … Earth juice has organic pH up and down fyi

So it would appear that the copper didn’t mess with the microbial life much if you did that without any admendments or anything .

What do you use for squirrel bait? @Took1-4theteam
I set the cage inside the garden closed up so they get used to seeing it then I’ll set it in a couple few days when I remember lol

Howdy @W.B.elpaso truth be told I started with the plastic just because I had them available from previous gardening exploits and then I got all of the Firehouse subs bucket’s because they’re only $3 apiece lol. I did get a 5 pack of 5 gal fabric pots with a package deal Vivosun 4x4 tent when I first started but since I was such a total newb and unfamiliar with that style of growing I shied away from them initially. I’d love to try 20 gal fabric though someday. I’m all for trial and error experimenting with my grows. I’ve been all over the map these last few years lol.

I’d go straight for a 45 gallon!!!

The Zkittles and Runtz are in at least 30 gal. I wish I had got them in there even earlier this year. The Cherry is in about 20 and definitely outgrown lol. I need more yard for reals.
