Can you do a video? Pleeeeeease?
I’ll give it a try…
Awesome!
@Jungle Great video… At first… I didn’t realize… A link was there.
Thank you!
Do you have a parts list?
Parts list? Um. Sure let me give it a shot.
Thank you… I love science.

Parts List
Generally, you want to have something like this: (from Wikipedia)
1: A heat source
2: Round bottomed flask
3: Still head
4: Thermometer/Boiling point temperature
5: Condenser
6: Cooling water in
7: Cooling water out
8: Distillate/receiving flask
9: Vacuum/gas inlet
10: Still receiver
11: Heat control
12: Stirrer speed control
13: Stirrer/heat plate
14: Heating (Oil/sand) bath
15: Stirring mechanism (not shown) e.g. boiling chips or mechanical stirrer 16: Cooling bath.
For 2, 3, 5, 10, 8, I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SM2C4FH/, but if you don’t need a 1L boiling flask (n.b., you can only fill this half full), then things get cheaper. OTOH, if you want a 2L boiling flask (which is what I have), things get more expensive.
For 1, 13, (omit 14), I bought the 2L version of this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0928GZPFR/. But if you buy the above link too, then you’d want the 1L version. HOWEVER, this heating mantle has a temp sensor which is intended to be submerged in the liquid in the boiling flask. To do that, you need something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HG1H1MX (again, match the size to the size of the heating mantle).
For 4, you need an adaptor and a thermometer. Here’s the adaptor I got: https://www.amazon.com/StonyLab-Thermometer-Adapter-Distillation-Apparatus/dp/B07CGZ727Q/, and the thermometer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00551N8Q2 (I got the -20/110 C version).
I omitted 16, but use stands to hold everything. I got this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09ZP5WC9Q/, but wouldn’t buy that again. Pay attention to how tall the stand is, it needs to be taller than this.
I took a 2gal bucket, a tiny pump like this https://www.amazon.com/PULACO-Submersible-Aquarium-Fountain-Hydroponics/dp/B07SLKDW5J/, and the tubing that came with the first link above. Fill the bucket with ice water, cut tubing in half, connect the tubing from the output of the pump to 6, and from the output of the condenser 7 back into the bucket.
I have this vacuum pump, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GWGCCL2/ref=twister_B0BG28Z37H, which I got a good deal on. Not completely sure I’d buy this one again (and certainly not for $228). I use this tubing to connect the vacuum to 9, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086PKCN4L.
For the buchner filter, I got this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0785XTQ83 (250ml size). If I had it to do over again, I’d buy a larger size. To filter directly into the round bottom flasks, you’d want a cork stand something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QNVCSXJ/.
Don’t forget matching filter paper to the buchner filter you get.
The charcoal I’m using is Media Bros G-CRAC, https://www.amazon.com/Media-Bros-G-CRAC-Filtration-USAlab/dp/B0B6CZCMKR/. I intend to also get Celite 545, https://www.amazon.com/CeliteÂ-Diatomaceous-Earth-Codex-Grade/dp/B08CS51LSK/, and create layers in the buchner filter (paper on bottom, then Celite, then paper, then G-CRAC. Even with the vacuum-assisted buchner filter, this takes a few minutes to filter through.
You also need a container to hold the recovered alcohol for next time. I use a flask with a stopper like this https://www.amazon.com/Erlenmeyer-Narrow-1000ml-Graduated-Flasks/dp/B07V3JHMR9/. Keep virgin alcohol in the original container.
Shucks, I hope that’s everything?
Wow… I don’t know what to say…
That was a lot of work… I… Truly… Appreciate what you’ve done.
You Sir, are… A gentleman and a scholar!
I have found an issue…
Using cartridges… At best… You’re going get two uses from cartridges.
There seems to be little filters or something inside to limit the flow… These get clogged with dark material. You cannot clean these.
I have soaked them in 190 proof ethanol… Forced ethanol through it to clean it… Then blew out the excess… And allowed to dry for a day or two to be safe.
They just get more clogged with each use… Plus the dark stuff in the “filter material” flows back into the new vape solution turning it quicker into dark solution.
The darker it gets… The higher the temp you need… But the higher the temp you end up getting stuff coming out of the suck hole. Also… Soaking in ethanol it dissolved a glue or seal at the bottom of the glass tube chamber… So they can leak out the bottom. Bummer!
Not cost effective… I am going to look into a vaporizer with it’s own well… Rather than cartridges.
Also I found a vaporizer it claims is for concentrate…
Anyone else have a tip?
@Negrita007 i totally forgot about this… I thought you’d be interested.
@Caligurl thank you so very! And @Growmoredank youre absolutely right. I can’t stand how the brand new vape carts says no atomizer or gets so clogged up that you need a safety pin to unclog, and that’s just wasting.
The oils I have from sister are super thick and the 510 battery and carts are not cutting the bill. We just resulted to dabs lol there’s gotta be a way to vape!
And then, had a glass cart break on me from the heat!
I’m looking at this…
The work that you do is INCREDIBLE
Are you looking for a dab rig or qwet rig ? Looking to make your own carts?
There are cart manufacturers out there who make carts for the thicker oils. You gotta look at the diameter of the hole. I think they range from .5 to 2.0
That part. My bong, giggles has a dab attachment also!
The vape carts I made with the stuff from @Caligurl was good! Meaning the vape stuff! The carts started clogging, one broke, and another said no atomizer. I was looking at this to vape out of. The Old Man and I are heavy smokers
We’ve been dabbing it but it goes faster that way.
If your dabbing off a nail or banger, then youll fly through product. Look at Duvo, but also look at Lookah and Yocan. I can load any of these and your product lasts 10 times longer than a banger and it retains its flavor (terps). Lookah i think always uses ceramic coils but yocan offers both ceramic and wired. I prefer ceramic. I have found that carts after heated repeatedly loose their potency overtime and start to taste awful about halfway through if youre heating it up alot.
I have the Lookah Seahorse Pro and really like it.
