@Mosca the water was from yesterday I just giving her a nightly squirt before lights out. 10-4 on leaving the water on the leaves as I know it will burn them.
SAFE, I was simply emphasizing on “as you say” keeping it simple…

@SilvaBack203 thank you for the kind words and encouragement. Truth in the matter is I don’t know what the hell I’m doing when it comes to this LSD I see something pop up I tie it down. If it tries to go up I knock it out and put it on his side.
I truly understand the entire concept the where, when and the why.
Just not 100% sure on how to apply it when to stop it when to change it. Not sure if this is wrong or not but I’ve got a small goal of keeping the stem from the dirt to the top of the plant as open as possible for new growth and keep everything low to the ground. I don’t even know if that’s a good concept to wish upon. But she seems to like it
Our pot4pot, water only came with neets oil. Just didnt say when to apply. We learned.
Good morning Grow Sis, the intent of LST is create a flat even canopy. Training them this early is usually done to control height. I let my plants grow until the 4th or 5th node has grown and top above one or the other. The idea is to tie the main down letting the side growth catch up creating that even canopy for even light distribution
I know a lot of people spray their plants, but I’m not one of them. Not saying it’s wrong, if it works for you, that’s what counts, but I see it as an unnecessary risk.
I think it was about 5 years or so ago when I ended up with white powdery mildew on a plant. That’s when I decided I’d never spray my plants again, and I haven’t had a problem ever since.
Agree with that, I do mist during the seedling stage where there’s no chance of WPM
@OGIncognito so leave it like this until flowering stage?
The top wants to grow back up. Do I let it or keep staking it down so it grows sideways?
@Cap_Ron normally I only missed during the first week of seedlings along with a dome. From time to time things are looking dry and I don’t want to water it till the next day or so I’ll give it a mist before lights out. Never had any dusting on the leaves or burning.
I built my own humidifier from ultrasonic mist discs. I was using tap water and a very light white dust formed on the leaves. I used a feather duster remove the dust added 1 mil per gallon of hydro peroxide to the water and I’ve never had a problem since.
For the record, I love the homemade humidifier. It vents into the tent but the unit is outside the tent it’s very quiet and I can take it from zero to 100% in less than 3 minutes. With an ink bird I’ve been able to zero in humidity with never having an issue 1% either way.
You are doing great. The training process really is up 2 u and how long you want to grow them in veg. She will always look ip for the light thats why she starts stretching up. @kaptain3d is great at training and uses different methods
Yes keep the top tied down until the sides catch up as in no side branch training until their even with the main then it’s adjustments to all creating that even canopy…even as possible
@OGIncognito ummm yah.
How: Any way you’re comfortable with works.
When to stop: High stress training should be stopped roughly 2 weeks before flipping to flowering schedule so the subject has the time to heal.
Low stress training could be done up until harvest, imo.
It’s great if you want to have a lot of buds of roughly equal sizes. And if you need the headroom for whatever reasons.
The “downside” is that you don’t usually get big colas growing this way.
And, keep in mind, more budsites equals smaller buds… It’s all a balance act!
Thanks for the tag @SilvaBack203
It takes some practice and took a little over a year for me training plants to get where I liked them. These were autos and with topping and training they generally hit 24”-36” tall
@kaptain3d thanks for the reply I think I’m ever so slightly confused. (Imagine that)
You say that the low stress training on the Aldo flowers that I’m doing who cause more Bud sites with smaller buds.
And you say the downside is the colas aren’t going to get big…
I thought doing the low stress training (I’m not doing high stress training on the autoflowers) created bigger colas for bigger buds. I seem to be going ass backwards
Only because growing that way, usually you don’t take off the smaller growth from the bottom of the plant. You get more budsites but the plant only has so much to give… So you end up sharing all the nutrients with a lot of bud sites.
Look at it this way: If you share a pitcher of beer with 2 people, you get a lot more beer than if you shared it with 10 people…
But you’re right on the LST. In the sense that working with the branches makes them stronger and more able to support bigger weight…
Cannabis is all about apical dominance. If you let it grow naturally, it will feed the top (center) cola first, then the one directly under it, and then the one under this one… and so forth.
By training the branches and bending them, you redirect the flow of this dominance. If you grew a plant with 2 levels of height, the top one would be fed first then the rest would get what’s left, creating roughly 2 sizes of buds…
If everything is on the same level, they all get the same amount of nutrition… thus making them about equal size.
@kaptain3d I totally understand the concept and the analogy.
So it’s basically not what I’m doing it’s how I’m doing it… the method I’m doing is simply creating more Bud sites sharing my beer with other alcoholics.
I want to hog up all the beer and become a member of alcoholics anonymous (j/k)
I totally get that it’s a method and the method I’m using is not giving me what I’m looking for. I guess my question would be what would I do to get more colas and bigger ones.
Rather than strapping my stem all the way to the ground like I’m doing now am I simply to just bend it a little? Believe it or not I’ve watched a lot of videos read a lot of tutorials read a lot of post but no one has ever broke it down to a categorized tutorial of what category of low stress training are you doing for different results it’s always just low stress training.
Everything’s a learning process here and I have no problem with failure. Failure is the fuel to my success
Lots of good info and some good humor sprinkled in, Good thread!
@OGIncognito so basically I’m just bending it over until the side branches grow upwards and catch up with the length of the main true cola, and then start tying them down till everything is a level playing field…
Hey Kap. Show her the pic you showed recently with the skewers
That’s the concept, I would let some more vertical growth on all branches happen then start tieing the main and sides down
