Epsom salt or no?

Does anyone use Epsom salt in there watering routine? Is it healthy for seedling and all stages of growth? And if so about how much do you use per liter?

That depends. Some lines call for it or include it with their regimen. What are you growing in and what nutrient line do you use?

If you do use epsom, then be sure you are applying pure magnesium sulfate. I lot of epsom products contain perfumes or other additives.

Ok I’m growing Blue Dream autos. Planted in ffof. I have the ff trio but idk if im going to use it or not. Plants are less than a week old.

You won’t have to feed for 4-6 weeks using FFOF, so I wouldn’t worry about epsom salt yet, unless you’re just trying to plan for when you start feeding

I had to do some converting, but I use .4g per liter.

Your plant isn’t going to make duration of grow giving only epsom salt. You’re going to have to figure out what products you’re going to use when time comes. And then check to see if they would benefit from adding the epsom and how much.

@Tank1984 I don’t use Epsom salt with FF nutrients. They also don’t include it on their feeding guide.

Brand new FFOF will get you to 4 to 6 weeks without needing to add any nutrients. That soil is hot.

@dbrn32 He mentioned the FF Trio but undecided on using it.

That is why I suggested figuring out what products were going to be in use first. Ff trio shouldn’t “need” epsom, but if mild concentration is used then a modest dose of epsom probably wouldn’t hurt either. If product line or application changes then my advice on using epsom may change too.

Thanks guys. Yea I have the ff trio just wondering everyones input on Epsom salt, I herd alot of good thing and bad. Im not going to use it just 1/2 dose ff trio a few weeks in veg state.

Just remember magnesium needs to be balanced by both potassium and calcium to much of one will pull at the reserves of the other 2

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, ie magnesium and sulfur. Both are required nutrients for plants. Hearing good or bad about adding Epsom salts is all about the application and conditions. If your nutrient solution has none or very little of either, adding Epsom will be good. If it has and abundance of either, then adding may not be great idea. There is nothing magic or special about it. Anyone who says good things about it probably added to their nutrients properly and anyone who says bad things probably didn’t. It’s already diluted into probably hundreds of bottles of liquid plant nutrients.
