Electric bills?

Yeah, have to be on grid. Stupid Texas law. But I over produce on full sun days and the power co buys my surplus (credits my utility account). So any rainy/ cloudy days get offset with the surplus.

That is the way to do it anyway.

@dbrn32 Really? I’ve been watching and studying this guys vids on you tube and maybe I just spaced out and misunderstood his Veg time. He does hydroponic and gets very large yields with only one plant. Where I’m moving I’ll be allowed 3 plants only so I want to try and get the most from it.

If you’re looking for a large yield out of 1 plant, then makes sense to veg longer. But plants are mature and able to flower long before that.

For me to run almost 2000 watts power from the walls with fans and all it costs me about 150 to 230 a month. Summer costs a bit more running ac unots. Not bad to grow 12 to 16 plants in 2 rooms

$3000 a month is about average

@iwannabeamainegrower
Actual watts.
For example
450w divided by 1000 = .45khw
.45 x what you pay for a KhW hour.
Say it’s .12 cents or look at your bill
.45 x .12 = .054
.054 x 18 hrs a day = .927
,927 x 30 days = 27.81 a month

Excellent breakdown @Woodrow!

My actual light bill on the Micasa right now averages around $56.91 with my Solar System. I’m just starting to save a little with my system, now my main reason was a bigger 5 stage Hvac cooling and heating system.

You will barley notice the 4x4 with the 550

You’ll be in Maine, right? I’m in Mass, and my single biggest line item (electrically) is heating. Granted, this is with a portable space heater. It uses 1000w and is on about 75% of the day in winter; My consumption is something like 1210w at peak.

It’s still much less expensive to grow your own than to buy it anywhere. Additionally, working with the seasons and clever grow locations can save you money on heating and cooling. I think my example is extreme, but I feel it bears mentioning.

@BobbyDigital sorry for lurking but how much did that system cost you and what type of set up is it? Moving to a town that doesnt have municipal electric and the house has an electric furnace so i woupd like to put up solar panals

What about leaks, new shingles, hail storms, cloudy days, and how much did that bad boy cost up front? It is cool!

If there’s leaks they were installed incorrectly. You definitely want a newer roof before having them installed. If for any reason you need to have the roof replaced after they’re installed, the company I went with will come out and uninstall them so it can be replaced. Then they’ll come reinstall after the roof is done.

They have a 25 year full panel replacement should a tree fall on them, hail break them, etc.

@GrizzlyGrows, it was $33k for 25 panels. To add a battery system it was another $13k.
