Well I’m glad you found your problem!
Now with the same determination , and help from the fine folks here your remaining girls will flourish
Happy growing
Wow those are really some babes right there
The Super Skunk is so fuzzy! I want to give it a big cuddle! lol
I can’t lie that super skunk is really fuzzy man those are nice haha
Looking good… nice choice for the medium coco perlite my favourite although prefer a lighter perlite say 85-15 but that’s just my opinion… I also agree with going straight from peat pod or rapid rooter in my case straight to a big pot… but wow 5 gallon fabric pot seems big for an auto… what yields are you getting from them @3high5you ?? only ask coz I do autos and use air-pots (oxy pots state side I think they are called) but I’m only using 10litre pots
Thanks @B345T, but I have decided that these ladies will all get transferred to DWC buckets instead of the 5 gallon bags. I thought I was having a lot of problems getting the PH down with the coco mix, but it turns out I was shipped a defective PH meter. This is my first grow in 10-12 years and I was using dirt back then, carrying the plants out in the morning and back in at night. I definitely don’t miss those days! I think that once I get my PH sorted out I will find a lot of success with the paper towel/coco mix for starting the seedlings til they are ready for the DWC buckets, but we shall see what the future holds.
I’d like to bed them all soooo sassy good looking chicks
Personally I think you shouldve drilled a hole in the upper part of the bucket maybe right under the lid cover and fed the air hose line through that so the tube doesn’t Interfere with the plant at all. I’m not hydro guy but that’s just what I would’ve suggested though, just throwing my two cents in. I don’t think it’ll bother to much how you have it though.
Happy Growing!

Seems to me it is impossible to keep the roots from growing around the airline and if the airline doesn’t come out with the basket you can’t take the lid off? Like, if the airline is coming through the side of the bucket, once the roots get all tangled up with the tubing that lid is never coming off without cutting/damaging the roots. This may not be true, but this was my line of thinking.
Maybe I should elaborate on how I plan to run this system. I bought a couple spare buckets, a spare air pump, and a couple spare air stones. I will have two extra buckets full of ph adjusted water with the proper nutes bubbling for 24-48 hours. When it comes time to change the water for a plant, I will simply pull the basket, put it into one of these freshly cleaned buckets that have all the nutes and have already been aerating for a day or two, then send the dirty bucket to be scrubbed and reused.
You’re over thinking this. I think you’ll come to realize that what you did was actually the opposite of what you think is going to happen. Your design is making it so the roots are guaranteed to grow around the air stone.
I drill a hole in the side of the bucket, just under the lip of the bucket. That way, no light can leak in, and the air stone can move freely inside the bucket. If roots grow around the air stone, which happens a lot to me, you simply just stick your hand in and disconnect the air stone, then pull the air hose out of the roots and then reconnect the air stone to the air hose and place back into the bucket under the roots. Viola!
I change out every bucket, not just changing out the water, but the entire bucket and air stone each time I do water changes. It’s easier this way. I will mix up 3 gallons of water, all the nutrients and add an air stone and air pump while I’m doing this so it thoroughly mixes the water and nutrients, then I pH the water/nutrient mix and take the entire bucket into the tent and switch out buckets. I just lift up the net pots and switch out old water bucket with a fresh batch in a nice and clean bucket. Simple.
This is why I think you’ll eventually run into problems by running your air hose through the net pot and because you’re not allowing the air stone to properly mix the water and nutrients if it’s not on the bottom of the bucket and fully churning all the nutrients it can. You’ll get settlement at the bottom of the bucket if your air stone is not on the bottom.
I love the ingenuity though, so don’t let me stop you from experimenting!
Noted, thanks. I’ll do the other five your way and see how it goes to compare the two setups.
Strange as feck… did you get them from RQS my super skunk died to.
Almost said a naught word there, my bad.
Sorry to hear that, @McLovin777!
All seeds came from ILGM. I don’t blame them for any of it though. This was completely my fault! From the batch of six new seeds I started, five are still going strong and I’m pretty sure they’ll all make it through!
I made some uber royal fudge ups to during germination and translating from soil early like a noob. Honestly I don’t pat my self on the back enough really, they will kick ass just make sure your PH temp and humidity is above 60% plants absolutely love by humidity around 70 in veg also buy a sulphur burner next chance you get.
It has been very dry here and I am having trouble keeping the humidity over 40-50%. I think that may have been part of the problem early on as well.
Sounds like a serious pH problem. Have you tried other water sources, like rain? I’ve done a few grows in coco and even though they started out rather slowly, after a few weeks they seemed to pick up and finished nicely. Do you live in an industrial area which might affect your tap water? 9 is really high! What are you using to bring it down? I use rainwater out of a barrel that pH’s at around 7, than I use this stuff for aquariums(forgot the name, sorry) to get it down to around 6, than fine tune it to about 5.5 with lemon juice. That usually gives a runoff close to 5.8, where we want to be. Hope this helps a bit, I’m really curious about your water source
I think it may be your water source, I used filtered water for about 2 months and little did I know but it filtered out the zinc in the water. The zinc is what makes your plant grow or get taller and space out the nodes. My plants are over 60 days old and look about the same size as yours because there was no zinc, which kept them stunted but I did get a zinc supplement and now they are getting space between nodes and a little taller. I also think my other problem is the soil I’m using because I don’t know exactly what’s in it. So there could be a variety of things wrong. My guess on your grow though is most likely soil or water based. Just my opinion though from experience with non growing plants
. Hope you figure out what’s going on.
My PH Meter was way off. Now that I have the new, correctly calibrated meter my water comes out at 7.5 pretty much every time. I am just using a highly concentrated phosphoric acid to lower the PH down to 5.7 after adding CalMag and whatever nutes I plan to use.
I am using unfiltered tap water with a CalMag supplement, but I don’t know for sure that either contain everything essential to plant growth. However, with the success of the one Gold Leaf that is exploding I assume I am good now.
