@Lollo Your picture didn’t load, but based on the description of brown roots I would bet it’s root rot. (Pyrithium) hydrogen peroxide will give them the oxygen they need, and kill the pyrithium.
Highly suggest to attemp the pictures again if you can to be sure.
@Bogleg @Hogmaster can better assist with hydro.
I have a DWC Grow with the the roots doing the same thing. This has happened for two separate grows. I’m not sure of the cause or what the exact issue is but it seems to be some sort of brown slime in the roots. On the last grow I lowered pH in res and used Root Pro and applied to roots once a day. That worked. This time I tried to gently use a paper towel to remove the slime and ended up pulling the roots off. Hopefully my plant is young enough recover. Anyone have any answers on this?
root rot im afraid buddy, what are your water temps?
My water was running at 73 F I just lowered it under 70 after checking some info out of the forum.
Yep definitely root rot. You’ll have to use hydrogen peroxide stop the issues.
Looks like they are drowning. Drooping like that is from not enough oxygen or water level is to high. The rot isn’t bad but will get worse if not resolved.
Not enough oxygen in water. Use bigger pump or clean airstones.
This product will eat up and clean rootzone.
Also stay under 70f water temp.
I use hydroguard works for me ![]()
hydroguard’s active ingredient is a bio fungicide, and I recommend that, too. you can solve it.
how did u lower it? the temp
@kettle I lowered my res temp by dimming my light. I was hoping that in veg I could leave the light dimmed and then once the plant is big enough to shade the res I can crank it up. I’m trying everything in my power to avoid the purchase of a chiller. Lol
Hydro guard and Orca are your 2 best friends…in my opinion.
So I found something that works for all my DWC Buddies… Cultured Solutions UC roots. I have been running this stuff now for a several weeks and it has been great so far. It states that this stuff is a mineral descaler but I’ve found that a lot of folks use it in their res to prevent any rot. So far it has done well for me. The one thing that may be unappealing to some is that it creates a harsh environment for microbial life. Running benificials may be hard. Food for thought my friends! check out the link if your curious.
