Durban Poison & GSC Extreme Together!

First “real” grow here!!! Not counting the high school grow with a bedroom lamp and random seeds from 20 years ago. This time I’m doing it right.

2x 150watt AeroLights
Vivosun In-Line Duct
Fox Farms Nutrients
And some other stuff to get me where I need to be
Growing Durban Poison and Girl Scout Cookies Extreme together. Not sure how they’ll do together but hopefully they can be cool together.
Started Getmination today (soaking in water, then to a paper towel and finally into a peat moss seedling pod). Once it’s sprouted for a little bit I’ll be putting into fox farms soil (2/3 ocean, top 1/3 frog). Probably switch to hydro for the next grow but still figuring out which way to go. A buddy is going with standard DWC but another friend who’s been doing it for decades uses a tray technique. Anyone have any insight into the tray technique. Not sure it’s official name but sounds pretty efficient.
Anyways I’ll keep this updated as well as the grow journals on the ilgm.com grow journal. And we’ll see what happens. Finger crossed my ladies thrive and grow some solid buds.

Goodluck on your grow brother. Your going to love it. I believe the answer to your question is ebb and flow table for type of hydro, not a hydro guy myself unless your counting coco.

i’m pretty new also and i have to say that soil is by far the easiest way to go.
no PH worries, no flushing, no mixing nutes, etc.
which way , hydro or soil is up to you though.
good luck and i’ll be cheering for you

Yeah I feel more comfortable with soil but I do recognize the benefits of hydro. We’ll see how the soil goes and if the results aren’t great could try hydro next grow.

You can get great results either way. Soil or soilless, synthetic or organic. Ive always been a soil guy. Tried coco this run and ill never be going back to soil.

don’t let the first grow define you.
my 1st time i hit it out of the park, 2nd was ok 3rd was a not great.
point is , take a couple/few grows to learn and decide from there.
this grow is looking fantastic because i learned from people that give advice from sites like this.

I play music for my girls too but I think the 12" sub above your lights might be a lil much.

Got them in their starter home!!! Curious to see who sprouts first!!!

Day 9 update… 3 of the 4 sprouted. 2 Durban Poison and 1 Girl Scout Cookies Extreme. Not sure what happened with the second GSCE as they were all germinated the same but no worries. 3 plants in a 3x3 is probably plenty anyways.
Got them planted in Fox Farm Happy Frog soil currently before I transfer them to their forever home (probably another week). Haven’t started giving them any nutrients yet as I hear the happy frog will be plenty for the time being.
Was having a hard time keeping the temp under 83 degrees when the lights were on but I got another online duct to bring air in. Had one that was just used as exhaust but now will have a little more control I hope.
Also added a CO2 bag to help give the girls some more love.
Looking forward to transferring them to their big boy planters next week sometime. Should I start adding nutes right away or give it a little time. Will be using fox farm ocean on bottom 2/3 and happy frog in the top 1/3. Also using fox farms nutes. Their schedule says to use big bloom right away but I don’t wanna burn the little girls. What y’all thinking??? Anything I should be looking at here. It’s my first grow so I’m all for learning everything I can!!!

Got my ladies moved to their final homes. Leaves are starting to really look pretty strong. Should I up the light intensity now that they’re in their new homes or continue around 60%??? They are right around 2 weeks old at the moment.

Day after transplanting and one of my lil ones is looking a little droopy. I’m assuming it’s pretty normal but just wanna make sure. Any of you more experienced folks got any input here???

Ok we’re a little over 2 weeks since sprout. The plants weren’t a fan of the transfer (probably transferred too soon. Lesson learned). But they seem to be getting better. Using ph’d water with a half dose of fox farms big bloom. The feed schedule says to start right away but I figured I’d start with just a little. Any thoughts??? I bumped my lights up to around 80% running 18/6.
A couple questions for some of you pros. When should I start watering to runoff??? I assume I’m still a ways out since the girls are still pretty small and I don’t want to drown them. I’m keeping my water ph’d and the soil should be ok for a little bit. Am I correct in that assumption???
I have heard people adding perlite to ocean forest to loosen the soil up. Since I’ve already added the girls to their forever home, is it too late to mix in perlite???
Not expecting a perfect grow this first time but really excited for some good buds and some good learns. Any tips for a beginner are always appreciated. This forum has so much info, it’s amazing. And thank you to everyone who’s helped answer some of my questions already.
Anyways here some pics of the little ladies. Everything looking ok???

Getting a little bit of discoloration on a couple leaves. A lighter shade of green. Is this normal??? Anything I can do to help this???

What soil do yu have them in? Looks normal mine did the same thing!

Mixture of ocean forest and happy frog. I read a little more and saw it might be fairly normal. Just trying to catch things straight away in case things start to go wrong. First grow so still got those “new dad” worries.
I am using a little bit of fox farms big bloom (feeding schedule said start right at transplant and I’m using about a half dose). Should I be using that this early??? Also heard people use cal-mag in fox farms. Should I be adding that now or wait until a little further in the veg???
Appreciate any assistance you may have. Trying to learn all I can.

I’m on my 1 grow as well bro, Im FFOF I wouldn’t give them any nutes till the 30-45 day mark! And yu will have to check ur runoff to get numbers before feeding any nutes again! How old are they? I would do small doses of cal mag personally in ur water schedule! That shouldn’t hurt but NO nutes till yu get runoff numbers!
@Cap_Ron
I got one for yu bro!

Right o. I’ll stick with PH’d water and maybe a little cal-mag here and there until they’re ready for the food!!! They’re coming up on 3 weeks since sprout. So a bit of time to go I suppose.

How’s your first grow coming along??? What you growing???
