The bud sites are really starting to fatten up now. It looks like this is the home stretch, the only thing growing now are the buds. I’m using 8 weeks as a thumb rule but now that I see the buds growing, I hope she will flower for 10 or 12 weeks. The stank is getting pretty robust also! What do you guys think? Is she on the right path? She just started week 5 of flower for reference. At the very least, I hope she looks good for a noob like me. Not seeing a lot of trichomes on the other hand, maybe it’s just too early?

Hey I have a kind of logistics question to ask you; why don’t I see more growers using lights on the sides of their plants? I assume the ‘roi’ is negative or else I’d see commercial growers doing it. Anyway I started this system where I’m moving my Durban into the big tent during the day and keeping her in my 2 X 4 during night. It’s certainly a pain in the ass but now I have two lights on her instead of one. I mounted the led light vertically and have been putting a different face to it everyday. I have a follow up question too… the days are getting very hot here and even hotter in my stupid attic where the ac doesn’t reach. I’m struggling to keep the heat below 84-82, I even put my ac unit inside the tent and that only gets it down to ~78-76. Would I be better off taking one of the lights out to cool off the tent or just keep doing what I’m doing?

Just so you know I’m not a tit, I didn’t plan on doing this and don’t plan to continue it either, I just ended up broke rather abruptly but I want to see this plant through to harvest so I’m trying to improvise in the mean time. Thank you!

Or maybe switch the lights so they’re running at night? Idk if I have enough time to ease the Durban into the opposite schedule. I’m thinking about adding an extra hour of darkness everyday until I get there. I think I only have another ~30 days until harvest so I’m not sure it’s worth it. Then again, running the lights opposite of the sun might be a good idea overall during the summer. Let me know what you guys think.

I always run my lights at night. I find advantages to doing so in both Summer and Winter.

I run mine at night. Right now it’s 6:30p to 5:30a. It’s cheaper to run at night and cooler. Also, if I had enough room to run side lights, I would

I have read and I am doing this myself that a 6/2 schedule in veg is a very kind schedule to the plants. It gives them a 2 hour break every 6 hours where the plants actually get to reach out a bit.

It’s 0645 for me also, I’m in Pittsburgh. So it’s day 40 of flower for my Durbin Plante, do you think it would be worth it to add that extra hour every day with harvest being so close? I don’t want to stress her and lose out on yield.

Yeah I’ve read a little about adjusting the lighting schedules but I haven’t experimented too much yet. How are your plants coming with that schedule? I’ve also read in more than one place that a 10/14 or 11/13 (light/dark) near harvest can shave off a week or so. What are your thoughts on slowly changing the schedule of my Durbin plant? it’s on day 4- of flower right now.

I don’t know @Gronoob. I haven’t been through the flower phase. This is my first grow. I can say my plants are loving it. But they are still in veg.

This is my Durban outside yesterday. My plants have to go outside this summer. She is 3 months old here in this picture and was and is in a tent until warmer weather

I run 12/12 up until the last couple weeks then I’ll do something like 10/14 or 9/15

It does make a lot of sense. The plant does need rest from the intensity of the flowering. Good luck on your grow.

Plants can only process so much light energy. So using side lights or anything of the sort will depend on how much light you have in total.

Most of us do run our lights on during night hours. Its cooler, and usually cheaper.

I ran my lights on from 7am-7pm this grow and regret it.

I will run lights on in 12/12 in the PM only from here on out
