So i’m about 4 weeks into flower and the past few days my plants have been looking pretty unhappy. The leaves are drooping a lot. They’re in 3 gallon pots and I water 32 oz each about every 2-3 days since in NM its hot and dry. I can’t tell if its from over watering or under watering. I stuck a stick in the pot and it would come up dry except for maybe the last half inch or so. I run them under a SP250 18/6 since they’re autos
If the pot is completely dry long before you water then you’re under watering… if you water before the top inch to two inches of soil is dry youre most likely overwatering. Youre better off to wait until the soil is mostly dry and water until saturated then wait until its almost dry again. Rinse and repeat you and you shouldnt have watering issues.
Also 32oz sounds low considering theyre in 3 gallon pots but that all depends on your temps and humidity.
Water them in 3 steps, 1st give 25% of the amount of water and leave it to spread in the pot for 15 min then another 25% and wait again 15 min then go slowly with the rest until you see the water dropping out from bottom of the pot.
32oz does sound low, my plants in 3 gallon pots get at least twice that amount (half gallon) every watering. You can’t be getting any runoff with that amount of water?
Water fully, enough to get some runoff then let dry fully before watering again. flood/drought, wet/dry cycles is what you want.
Lol yea man, sounds like ur girls r thirsty if that’s all the water ur giving them
Got it, never again will i water so little. I gave them another 32 oz so now each has a half gallon and had about an hour for the first 32 to soak in as well and they already are back up and looking better, thanks everyone!
What kind of pots??
That really matters. I run fabric pots and will not use anything else.
I feed weekly(mon or tuesday) and water on thursday.
Nutes on monday, one gallon each plant or till the dish under pot is full.
I water on thursday(terpene and resin booster and sometimes calmag) minimum of a gallon or till dish on bottom is full. I never have watering issues, the pots are to thank for that.
I’ve never used fabric pots, what’s that do for you?
A few things…
Helps control over watering. I just water or feed till it comes out in tray. Havent overwatered a plant or had root issues since i started using them.
It also allows roots to get more oxygen. Keeping root zone aerated.
It also “air prunes” your root zone. Basically the roots get to pot and fresh air stops them from growing along the outside, forces them to turn inward.
Those are the reasons i use them. They are cheap too, i have all new growers start in them if i get the chance.
Which nutrient should I add to help with droopy leaves? Not too familiar with all of that side of growing yet but i want to learn. The only thing I give them is some big bloom fox farms, I have the recommended amount suggested on the bottle for a gallon mixture and I water from that jug about every other watering maybe every two.
You might want to look to get some micro nutes. As i understand it the ff line has one compatible with your big bloom. I dont use the line of nutes so im not an expert on it. I know those who use it usually dont have a complaint.
I use the emerald harvest brand. Its a little more complicate, though not much. But i got awesome results rite out the gate first grow with it. Got about 6 under my belt with those nutes now and have considered trying something else but havent found anything i like yet.
