After switching to Jacks i now have to use ph up in Coco. I’ve never had issues with high runoff ph but i am now. Its 7.0. Is the ph up solution causing this? I fertigate twice a day in week 3 of flower.
I hit them with 4.5 ph cal and mag upon noticing this today. These are on trays not the drain pods so i cant just flush with hose. Will continue to feed at lower ph until i see change.
No specific issue with ph up that I’m aware of. Calcium issues with plants grown in coco are common but it’s from not being buffered, pots getting too dry, or maybe straight watering of plants in place of feeding. You’re feeding full strength twice per day? How much runoff you getting?
What is your runoff and input numbers? Likely you Need to increase feeds and get plenty of runoff. I had the exact same thing my first coco grow, Low steered me towards adding feed events at a little higher ec and my rising ph problem went away. Coco sometimes feels like you should do the opposite of what fixes it. It seems frequent fertigation is THE way for coco, or it’s a balancing act you can’t keep up with. After Low got me straight, my numbers varied very little.
Sheeiit i should have known. Ph pen, can’t reset and can’t calibrate it. It evidently is on the way out. Ph pens and timers have caused me enough misery through the years.
Im going back to my recipe with a few drops of ph down until the ph pen arrives. Im gerting about 10 percent 1 inch of runoff twice a day.
When i mix jacks into ro or distilled it typically takes about .5-1 ml of ph up per gallon to get to 5.8. If using tap water could be entirely different depending on the makeup of your tap water but thought i would share the info i
AC Infiniti makes a pretty good one right now. I actually have two of theirs. I used Hannah for years and I still got several others in there. It works pretty good. But the Infiniti is actually pretty easy to calibrate and pretty easy to use. One thing I do is always put it in tapwater for a minute to kinda get it to work back-and-forth a little bit while I’m checking my nutrients. You got to have some type of meter to know what you’re doing. Because you could be as low as four. I try to stay above 5.5 usually around 6.3 because my magic number. But I don’t use Jack’s. I use pH perfect but I do use different stuff. Like I switched to Fox farm, but I also use advanced nutrients with it also. But if you can get your recipe going, that’s usually what I do try to stay away from full strength. There has been times that I’ve used advanced nutrients and fed every day. Just not that much. And then about once a month, I would use sledgehammer to give him a little bit of flush. People say you can just use water for that and you are correct but I don’t have the pH it down with the sledgehammer and it doesn’t take much either. It has kelp in it so it definitely helps. https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-Precision-Interchangeable-Hydroponic/dp/B0G3RF2TCL
