I’m currently on the end of my 3rd grow, and in the middle of my 4th. I had a hermorphidite in the middle of #3, destroyed it, but not before 2 of the 4 plants got pollinated:-(. I’m currently in week 10 of flower on my 2 remaining unpollinated girls. The trichromes are foggy, but. I can’t find 1 amber trichrome. So far, all my grows have produced really good pot, but, as yet I have harvested while foggy, but, no amber. Am I missing some potency by not waiting?
I don’t think you are losing much potency just the effects will be different…
No. Waiting for amber is equivalent for waiting for THC to be converted into CBN. CBN is what produces the “couch lock” effect that some growers seek.

What you might be missing is potency if there are clear trichomes that have not yet become cloudy. The cloudy → amber transition is not as critical as some make it out to be if you’re just looking for highest THC content.
I like to see a few turn amber on the buds then harvest when 5-10% amber . Just my two cents worth on my preferred time to harvest. Alot of others prefer a little earlier though. Experiment a little from harvest to harvest and see what you like best.
Amber trichomes add to the intoxication. Dont look at it like a loss of THC look at it as the inclusion of CBN and CBG.
