Facts. I’ve had many autos flower at week 2 ending in virtually no yield
Never had a photo go into flower unwanted.
Medically I can’t and will never again try and make autos work. I can’t waste the time. Sure I got lots of plants to flower but I get more flower from a photo not counting the good auto that happens from time to time.
Autos are fun. Autos are good to fill in space. Autos are not good for medical needs.
I grew autos only for 2 years and never go back. Just about every auto ilgm has I have grown.
I’ve never had such issue free grows as I do now with photos.
I’ve won bud of month twice with autos. I will gladly give up a pretty bud for predictable grow and harvest. I didn’t get that with autos.
I’ve only done about 10 autos and they started flowering so fast I didn’t want to touch them, I was worried about slowing growth down. Obviously you didn’t worry about it and I guess it works. Were they already flowering when you topped and how many times did you top?
I accidently topped an ak auto from ilgm and she’s still alive. Hasn’t started to flower yet either and she’s a month old, yesterday. For a lot of people on here, at least that I talk to and read about, get 8oz off their autos. At per plant, that’s not bad to me. But photos have like pounds on 1 plant from what I hear. Just really gotta know what you’re doing.
@Shaggy “A lot of people on here, at least that I talk to and read about, get 8oz off their autos.”
If you’re getting 8oz of dried product per auto, then you must being doing something better than most. Haven’t been here too long, but IMO 8oz per auto is is some big expectations. I’m getting ready to harvest mine in next few weeks. I think I’m looking at about 2-3oz per auto. But if people are getting 8, please tell me what I did wrong.
What’s your set up? Need great lighting. Nutes. All sorts. Ph meter, TDs meter. I’m not saying everyone, but people do. And a good amount. It’s possible.
But like I said, you can get 2 pounds off a photo. But it’s also gonna take longer. It’s a matter of preference really. That’s really the big difference.
I just ordered some auto seeds to try, mostly out of curiosity to see how well they can do and if I have the skills to do it.I like to plan and control the entire grow, but autos may test my patience and knowledge. Should be fun.Won’ be planting them until my current grow is done, probably in December .Love this site, learning something new almost everyday!
You should check out some of @Blazin_Skywalker posts. She has not posted for almost a year now, but her auto hydro grows were spectacular. Here is one pic.
Got it all. 5x6 room 8’ tall. 1000 and 2000 spider farmer. 3 gallon fab pots, FFOF on bottom half, FFHF on top half. Fox farm dirty dozen pack but didn’t need to start feeding until week 8. I ph and ppm all my ingoing and runoff values. Started lst week 3. Humidity and temp controller, co2 bag, intake fans exhaust fans, my room is set up pretty nice…but I don’t see any half pound autos any time soon in my room. I will be getting some killer nugs, they are fat as hell and dense as a brick. But I guess I got some learning to do if people are regularly pulling down half pounders.
From what I hear, upgrade your lights. I hear that’ll make a huge difference and I’ve heard that’s actually a bad brand. Well, maybe not bad. But maybe you need more lighting and dont realize. I’ve heard that’ll make the difference between 1oz and 4oz or even 8oz.
Not saying that is your issue. Just throwing ideas out. Could be all sorts of things honestly. What’s your light schedule? I mean, if you grow as well as your saying and k ow as much as your playing off, you should know autos might flower when they’re a foot tall in 30 days, or at 5 feet tall after 65 days. And strains and seed banks are different. It’s all sorts of stuff. Sorry if you dont believe me bud.
Go up in this post and look at the pics of the autos people posted. @Tinman not sure what he pulls, but I’d bet that plant he posted here probably is more then 4oz.
I’m not saying I don’t believe ya. I have seen a lot of big autos myself. But to “expect” 8oz, to me is a hefty goal. Just as you say…autos can flower at foot tall and 30 days old. So would it be a realistic assumption that yiu will be getting 8 oz off that one, very true.a five footer probably will harvest you a half pound. But after being in here for few months …a five foot auto is not what is normally expected. And by stating “a lot of people get 8 oz”. Is a lot different than naming one or two growers that has done it. I’ve seen Michael Jordan dunk from the free throw line…but doesn’t mean “a lot” of people do it. Lol. But I know what your getting at @Shaggy I’m here to learn, bounce ideas off each other and have a good ol time. But a good ol fashion healthy debate is good once in a while too. Lol. But I would like more info in the spider farmer not being a good brand. Is that really the opinion of the group? I thought and was told by many that spider farmer was a prettty good choice. Please enlighten me. No hard feelings @Shaggy. Much respect . Stay safe and stay medicated:exploding_head:
I hear hlg is where you wanna go. And agreed, debates are good. Lol. But I didnt mean to make it sound like you need to expect 8 oz. Lol. Sorry if I did. Just meant it’s possible to do if you know what your doing.
Idk if it’s the opinion in of the group. I’ve just read like a couple people talk about them and say they aren’t that good. But i could be wrong. @dbrn32 can help with lights more honestly.
I would be willing to bet that with controlled indoor lighting you can flip a photo to flower at 4-6 weeks and beat most auto harvest times on average, plus better yield.
