Dehumidifier water

I was emptying the dehumidifier in my basement this morning when a thought hit me just as the last drop went in the sink. When I get to legally grow on July 1, could this water be used to water the plants if the ph is in an acceptable range? I’m gathering up distilled water because my county water would constantly need ph treatment. I won’t be able to check the ph of the dehumidifier water until tomorrow, so I have no idea what it may be. Any thoughts?

If the reservoir is clean, that’s then deionized water. Same as distilled. 0ppm is distilled. Deionized usually 0-5ppm. You NEVER add pH up or down to water with ppm that low. Distilled, reverse osmosis and deionized water are not physically capable of holding pH. They will automatically take on the pH of the medium. We consider 100ppm the minum for pH adjustment. Since there has to be solids in the water to pH it.

If you add pH up or down to 0ppm water, your meter will give you what you want to see eventually. But it’s false readings. And that pH adjustment is going straight to the root zone, which doesn’t need it.

Add calmag to di/ro water on non feed days, except when flushing/leeching. When flushing or leeching add litterally nothing.

When it’s this humid out, 75% of the water going into my plants is from my dehumidifier. More efficient than creating waste with RO or paying for DI.

Yes you can water with it. It’s essentially the same as ro water. Just be sure to keep you dehumidifier res clean. I clean mine with peroxide and water. Give it a good rinse with sprayer on your sink, then your good to go.

Wow, I knew you guys would give me an answer, and it was a good one! I’m getting anywhere between a gallon or two daily this time of year, so that will save a little bit of money. I will empty it tomorrow and sanitize the reservoir and start saving up! I think I have most of what I need (soil, nutes, ph up/down, cal mag, pest control, meters, blah blah) thanks to what I’ve read on this great forum. Just waiting on July 1, …maybe

I use it an it comes out of mine with 20 to 22 PPM, almost nothing.

Thanks man, glad to hear it. I just hate I already bought about 10 gallons of distilled! Better start saving the jugs now.
