Day 8 Seedling not sure about it

Day 8 This guy has been in slow motion compared to everything else. Im wondering if I should run a back up, because at day 8, and not sure if its going to grow healthy. The next leaves dont seem to be forming or its just really slow. This is a good seed $$ / so I don’t want to do anything too hasty. Wondering what the internet thinks? Dli is perfect. its getting half strength jacks, since yesterday, before that, was watering in with PHed white shark, Medium is Coco.

No nutes are needed until the point at which the cotyledon leaves are gone.

How much are you watering (how much, how often)?

Im keeping the coco wet at least slightly, I tent to not let coco ever dry. I haven’t been taking notice how much water Ive been giving it exactly.

Good idea, but be careful. It’s easy to overload a seedling. Once she is mature you can really pour on the water.

Guy, have you had a seedling at this point get stuck? Does the slowness mean its not going to be a good plant? 1st seed out this batch was great! next grow, these seeds aren’t the same as the 1st. Most did not germ. this one did, but its real slow! They were stored cool and dry! kinda worried since I prefer to have everything growing around the same age ( more or less)

Some seedlings will pause visible growth above ground while the plant lays down a root system. Watering too much is very common at this stage. Roots need oxygen, and it is difficult for a seedling, which has but a single tap root, to extract oxygen from the coco.

Your seedling looks pretty decent. I’m just trying to help you optimize the plant’s environment. Give it a few days to see how she works out. I expect it will be fine.

Too wet. Coco doesn’t need to be watered every day when the plant is a seedling, but does need to be fed at full strength as coco, unless prebuffered, has nothing in it.

I’m with u. Soak the pot down til u get runoff then leave it til u see dry patches start to form on the top of the pot prolly 2 or 3 days then soak again. When u water in coco make sure to soak the pot til u get runoff out the bottom and make sure to drain the pans of the runoff water. When u water to runoff the new water pushes out some old salts and stuff that were not uptaken by the plant and u don’t want that in the mix to throw off the pH of the new stuff u r adding in and salt build up in the roots is not a good thing it will cause super slow growth. Also have u checked the pH of the mix u add in ph is a huge factor.worh these plants and in coco needs to be between 5.5 and 6.2ish lower numbers for vegging and flower is more around the 6.2ish area as the plants uptake more nutes at better rates with a bit higher ph but if u stay withing margins any pH between should work out fairly well for the plants. I always start to feed my plants ts jacks right away from start. Seems to help pu.p up the plants as long as u don’t go overboard with them.

Seedlings don’t need any nutrients for a while. They are too small and just have developed a little tap root. Nutrients may have stunted it. She might pull out of it.

Most of your growth is going on underneath

Had pretty much the same issue with my current grow growing OG Kush, looked like it was going to die at any moment and had to give it support to hold it straight as it was falling over however held on to it as this is my first grow and didn’t want to plant anymore as the other OG Kush And Purple Punch plants we’re already 3weeks ahead ( 2nd OG seed plant) so I slowed down on the watering gave it A little TLC😉 and BAM! She is the little lady in the foreground at 23” tall, will be trellising and flowering within the next two weeks…. Good luck my friend…

For comparison, here are my currently running girls at day 8 above ground.

This is in Coco, with full strength Jacks. I did no soaking of seeds, planted directly in coco and fed full strength from the beginning. I put them in clear cups inside of red cups so I can look at the root development. I like to transplant a few times before the final pot so I can keep track of the roots, some people worry about damaging them during transplant. I did however have one never sprout at all, and one that was at least a week behind the others that I just tossed out eventually. From the photo it looks like the second set of true leaves is just visible. Even at that point in my photo mine were getting no more than 1 oz of Jacks mix per day. If it were mine I would give it a little bit longer and maybe let that medium dry out a bit more than you are currently doing between watering. I am only on my 4th grow, so you might keep that in mind about any opinion I have.
