Day 37, 420 Fastbuds

Did some experiments with this grow, and I’m a bit disappointed.

In an effort to increase root size and ultimately yield, I went from a 7 to a 10 gallon pot. Two pots had fresh FFHF right out of the bag with some added worm castings and myco.
The other two pots are previously used FFHF, which I heavily amended with worm castings and myco.

Light is 1000w MH on a 20/4 cycle. I’ve been allowing my tent to run deliberately warm, 85-94*. So far absolutely no signs a any deficiencies. Nice bushy plants, lush green.
But they’re growing on the slow side? I’ve grown 420 Fastbuds in the past and found them to be almost explosive.

I’ve reduced the heat in the tent today, 90* was too warm IMO. But do far I’ve seen no difference in the soils.

Being in a tent, with temps that warm, your root zone is probably a little warmer than they like. But they look like they’re still thriving pretty well!

Yea, thank you.
It was just something thought I’d experiment with. But I could see fairly quick, it might not work. I was hoping the added heat might super charge them.

But in handling the pots I immediately noticed how light they were, given they were watered only 36 hours earlier. Sure, they’re drinking a lot of water. But the heat was also causing evaporation.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

If I had to guess these two are related. Good looking plants though! :call_me_hand:t2:

My 420 Fastbuds (2-Cherry Cola in front, 2-Strawberry Gorilla in the rear) are 40 days old now. Also very slow. Constant 80f and 80RH from the start.
I’m praying they make it another week before they start going into flower.

Yup, same here.

We appear to be in the same boat. I’ve grown 420s in the past, and the growth rate was scary. But not so much now.

I’ll guess we’ll know more in about 10 more weeks. But hey, your plants look great regardless.

No matter where you go you will see this regurgitated without any factual evidence. Growing in a larger pot has some benefits in some scenarios but it doesn’t mean you will have larger roots or a larger harvest.

Below is a pic of a plant I started and gave to my dad because the smell was too strong for my situation. My dad is terrible at being consistent with anything and his only experience was with a couple of autos he started around the same time. 5 gallon bucket for pot size reference. You definitely do not need a big pot to get to get a good harvest.

Cheers, 3 gallon vessels net me a nice return :love_you_gesture:

How many ounces do you average from a 3 gallon pot? I’m growing autos, and I try for 4 per pot.

My photo average is 8 zips, I’ve done pretty well with autos averaging around 6 zips. I’m pretty sure these could be higher with 1 plant per tent but I run 2 per tent and train them for the space :love_you_gesture:

2 photos I currently have in 3 gallon bags and just started week 3 flower

Fastbuds 420 seeds are crap. I purchased 4 packs of seeds, 20 total, and all were dwarfs that bloomed anywhere from 3.5 inches to 11 inches tall under excellent conditions where photoperiods thrive and get huge. I will never waste my money on their screwed up genetics again!
