Thanks guys, I’ll definitely be switching to the 18/6 schedule, especially with how much light these Viparspectras kick off. At least I know I’m getting my money’s worth with my lights now.
Bit of a random question but something else I’m considering, it’s extremely dry here right now (25% RH ambient) and as such I’m having trouble keeping humidity where I want it to be. Is it safe to turn off the inline duct fan for most of the day right now while the plants are so young? Run it for 30 minutes once a day to cycle the air in the tent out, but otherwise keep it off for the sake of increasing the RH of the tent?
In early stages of growth where smell isn’t an issue, the only reason my in-line kicks on is it hits my max temp set point or my max humidity set point. My oscillating fan takes care of them the rest of the time. I sometimes even leave my tent cracked open a bit for air exchange
I dealt with that same frustration when I first switched to autos. There’s so much conflicting information out there, and so many options. It’s tough to get everything correct. A good idea is to read through some of the journals here. That was one of my best sources when I was learning.
One tip I’ll pass on is this. I never mist or spray my plants at all, unless I have to treat for something, and that’s incredibly rare. I keep the humidity high for my seedlings, around 70 to 75%, but only until they have some roots established, then I start lowering it every couple days until it’s around 60%. I couldn’t be happier with my results. All I grow now are autos, and almost all of them are monsters.
Yes, as long as the light won’t make the tent too hot, and you have a fan in there to circulate air, you don’t need to run the exhaust fan constantly at this stage. Best option is to have a controller for your exhaust fan that runs it as necessary based on your settings.
A weekly foliar feed of kelp extract is the only time I will mist my actual plants and I do that all the way up to flower, but I will mist the inside of my humidity dome from time to time.

I grew 1 auto and switched back to photo period. Autos have a mind of their own. Some growers reap the benefits of autos, not me. Just MO. Good luck. you can do this. Stay in school.
