Cutting plant down

I know things are more advanced than old school ways, but my first and only grow 40 years ago (up until now, new one started) the way to harvest was to pull plant up roots and all. Theory was stuff in roots go into buds when hung upside down. What’s old growers opinions if you flush well beforehand.

good question. idk. but would like to find out what the forum thinks.

The “stuff” in roots is nutrients, which you definitely don’t want to smoke, it makes it harsh and taste of chemicals. This is why we flush the nutrients out of the soil, so that the plant can’t take up these nutes when we harvest.

I grew on a farm 35 years ago and I remember this practice of hanging plants upside down, but honestly, the plant doesn’t move anything from the roots via gravity anyway. The reason we hang them by their roots is because it’s just a convenient way to dry the plant.

Plus keeping the plant whole and hanging it upside down help the plant dry at a slower rate

I like to trim before drying. The longer leaves are more prone to get mold and a bitch to trim after dry.

I usually lollipop them down to just buds then do 24 hrs of dark then cut stalks and dry.
