I always keep a Ziploc bag of fresh thin leaves in the freezer at all times. When you need one it’s like a ice cube grab it and throw it in the bag

What’s the old saying I’d rather have them and not need them then need them and not have them

You could use bodeva packs 58 - 62 % rh. One thing i found is that if you wait til bud snaps in drying process you likely have or are ver close to over drying. Im also a newbie but i also do a ton of research and ask a ton of questions. I start to cure when the stem bend clean but does not snap. That way you have dry flower but yet plenty moisture to leech out during curing. I think thats the terminology. Or you could get a moister meter and dry down to 10 to 11 maybe 12 % and then jar. But has for your question bodeva packs will help, fruit peels will help but dont leave them in for more then a few hrs. Or try to moister bomb it , put a moist paper towl ove lid of jar and place cap on for a hr or 2. Well these are things I’ve read but never actually tried. I have also used the bodeva packs in my experience.

Boveda packs are only recommended if you over dry. There seems to be a trend of it robbing peoples terps. Lot of growers here have mentioned that.

How would I know if this was happening?
I also use the boveda packs.

Like anything else buddy, it’s just comparing. A bag with and a bag without should produce some solid first hand evidence! I’ve avoided them based on some experiences other members have shared. Supposedly it can absorb more than just moisture during a cure. After a product gets over dried it won’t really matter at that point because over drying leads to a loss of flavor and smell on its own.

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the smell of ammonia from from being to wet? Is it possible the hydrometer is incorrect?

So the smell of ammonia… it can be a difficult to diagnose. As there are terps that smell of ammonia, like “Cheetah Piss.” Some say it’s the chlorophyll breaking down, some say it’s mold. Mold usually will have some visual cues accompanying the smell… not dry enough when put in the bag, rot, or wet spots in larger buds end up molding the surrounding buds…

So long story short, idk. The meter could be faulty. N you find contradictory information all over the place. Most articles I’ve read said that smell should not be in cannabis. Posts here and other forums often suggest it’s normal.

I’ve only had a couple harvest smell this way and didn’t keep them long enough to find out…

Half gallon glass jars and meters in my inventory.

Gallon glass jars with lock lid (easy burping)
