Converting plant started hydroponically to grow in dirt

I have a 6 inch high plant started from a feminized seed growing in a pot of clay pebbles. I don’t have room for it in my tent. I have found it a new home but it has to be in dirt. I have never grown anything but hydroponics and am totally ignorant.
What kind of dirt should I use? How do I separate the roots from the clay pebbles? Is it okay to leave some of the clay pebbles in the dirt? Thank you.

Needs to be cannabis friendly soil. I use Coast of Maine Stonington Blend. Be prepared for shock. You can leave the pebbles, the roots will grow through them. Try not to disturb the roots too much.

Yes I can pull all the clay pe bles out and bury them also with the dirt if u choose but prolly would be better to rid of what u can. Cannabis friendly soil is always a plus but ground dirt will work also if ur planning on planting in the earth. Perlite or other stuff to areate the soil will also be a huge helper. I myself when. I was in soil loved to use ffof but coast of Maine from what I hear is a super good soil also. There are so many types of souls out now I’d bet alot will do the trick as long as it is canna friendly

Idk I’ve done root trims and it don’t seem to affect the plant I’ve done veg root trim and flower root trims on 2 oz solo cup grows and I wanna say I don’t think it affected the plant really at all as long as u don’t harm too much of the root a little harm shouldn’t do much to it. I mean I cut the bottom third or so of the roots off the plant both trims and I didn’t see a light.p or I’ll effect either time. I was a bit shocked myself. @Arrow if still same guy and he was amazing at doing all kindß of stuff with canna plants. He did root trims lat hst bonsai style root over root unders u name it and dude has skills. I hope it’s the same arrow I tagged here. Ow it’s been a long while of me being on forums and chatt8ng

Thank you for your help. I appreciate your taking the time to answer, and your referral to @Arrow was interesting. I was in a panic and you were reassuring.

Good clean MJ friendly dirt.
I used to clone in water and move to dirt.
Or dirt changed to better dirt, usually works well.
Some slower growth but usually recovers well.
Good growing to you.

Thank you for your help and thanks for taking the time to help. I have never done anything but hydroponics and using dirt scared me.

Mother Nature does great and amazing things with dirt.

FFHF used for re-locating clone #10 and final maybe) from clone dome farm (under water now) to tent, tonight.
I had to rip her wet mud ball out, knock off some clumps. look for a root, and re-trans-plant, in the rain.
DeepDiverDave and water, go figure.

Thank you.

Np u should hopefully find soil to be a little easier than hydro as it’ll take a little less work to get the product I feel. Unless u have the bomb ass hydro setup. Coco is similar to hydro where as u need to water daily to keep the medium wet or moist where as soil u water once til runoff then wait til she is dry for next watering always get u some runoff tho and flush out some of the bad and replace with good stuff. Good luck imma follow and watch

These plants are amazing. I’m in my 1st grow and have done just about everything I can to kill them. I started with 6 and now down to 3 (getting to the point now) I started them in a sterile RWDC but I needed to move a new 6 into the buckets, so I had no choice but to move the 3 into dirt (miracle gro! sheesh.). I was able to get all the roots out of the baskets with no loss, and 5 days later I have seen no droop or discoloring of leaves (knock on wood), and they have just entered bloom. So hang tight with them. They seem to have a strong will to live. Keep up the good work and keep us in the loop. :vulcan_salute:

I have found that seedlings are very delicate but as soon as they get a few leaves started they are very hardy. I cut off the plastic pot I had started my plant in and put it into ordinary potting soil mix yesterday. It looked fine today and I gave it to the friend who has found a new home for it with another friend so I hope it will be well.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Good luck with your grow, it sounds like you are off to a great start.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I am in my third year of growing hydroponically with the help of a mentor and I have learned lots and have the tent setup so I am not planning to switch to dirt, although I know it has some advantages.
I started 4 seeds a few weeks ago and only had room in my tent for 3 plants. One was smaller than the other 3 but very healthy and I couldn’t just kill it so I asked around and a friend said he had a friend who could take it but it had to be in dirt. I’ve never done MJ in dirt and my outdoor vegetable garden has been pathetic so I panicked. With help from the Forum I got it transplanted into a pot of potting soil and today I gave it to my friend to give to his friend. I guess this is the end of my excursion into dirt growing, although if the laws loosen up in Virginia I may try to grow outside in the future.

Grow XXX and I am still the biggest destroyer of my grows.
