Confused on technique

@Myfriendis410 got it closer than me. I would of said 2weeks tops. Looking good Growmie can’t wait to see it in 6 weeks :sunglasses:

Is that from the flip or first pistils? Normally one would discount the transition to flower and start counting once buttons (like shown) appear.

Plants look pretty!

from flip, they just started looking this maybe a day or two.

ok, 21 days in flower. so figure time for a defoliation. i’m gunna take a guess and say the fan leaves should go, maybe a few of the lower branches. the bud sites seem to get smaller the further from the light they are. for being from the same strain they have grown differently. but anyway your opinions are greatly appreciated. i would also say that the plants are a little taller than they need to be. so the next grow will be relying on you all for pointers. @JaneQP don’t think i left anyone out this time. thank you.

I do minimal pruning. I cut any thing touching the soil. I try to leave as many fan leaves as possible since they are the “solar cells” of the plant. You can try tucking big fan leaves to get more light to the bottom buds. Let me tag in a few others - not sure if you tagged any of them previously.

@JaneQP appreciate the tag Grow Sis. @bullsnow I wouldn’t remove any growth on the plants you have. I defoliate right before , 3 and 6 weeks in flower but selectively and for air flow and light penetration. What lighting are you using Growmie :love_you_gesture:

right now i have a 45w LED shop light. 40w ILUMINAR light just came in today. which is my next concern, will this be better than what i have now?

yeah took some off a couple of weeks ago. trying to take just what dries. i’m thinking the light i’m using is not strong enough to reach the bud sites towards the bottom. have a new light i want to change to.

I set you to watching so I will see when you post or when anyone responds. I’ll see what you are posting and will chime in if I can help. If it is out of my comfort zone I tag in others that helped me the past almost 3 years here.

If you need to get someone’s attention use the “@userhandle

Took me a while to figure things like that out on the forum.

As for lights, I started cheap because I didn’t know cannabis these days are 40 years beyond when finding seeds was normal and we coughed a a lot. I now have two tents and two closets with four amazing lights almost set up for the winter indoor grows.

Those lights were a great deal from a friend here. He knows who he is!:us:. I appreciate his service and kindness.

Best to you!

yeah i’m on a very limited income, so i’m trying to be as frugal as i can but want to maximize my harvest as best as i can. will need as much outside input as possible. will be a trip getting to know all and their knowledge.

We are a growing community here. We aim to help. If I remember it is watts per square foot and not per plant. I was using the blurples and did get to harvest. About 1.5 ounces per plant. Then slowly upgraded lights and changed growing techniques. Recent harvests are more than I ever expected.

Funny thing is I don’t use but I keep my husband, children, and friends from street or dispensary weed saving them $$$$ a year. In repayment the have to help trim!

What size space are your plants in i can see a closet but whats the dimensions and if i can know your max budget i should be able to find something that will work for that space using really cheap lights will not get you results you are seeking i can promise that lighting is impo your most crucial piece of equipment in the entire grow because without adequate lighting you will only get subpar or under subpar results time after time

Edit- Im also set to follow so anytime you post on this thread ill get a notification

I understand completely! I gave up vaping nicotine and beers to pay off the cars so I could have money for growing. I had a feeling the company I was working for was going to let me go. Feeling was true.

Factor 40-50 watts per sqft of grow space with a quality light fixture Growmie :love_you_gesture:

Agree with everyone. There is nothing to defoliate on that plant. Here’s what I’m dealeing with if you have the urge to defoliate something LOL

After defoliating this:

they still looks like this (the defol was from 4 plants)

EDIT: Set to watching but feel free to tag me if needed

There is no reason to do a defol on those plants. The only reason to remove leaves is for the health of the plant and those are loose enough that airflow is not a problem. With the low light levels you need every leaf you have.

Hiya. Ty for the tag @JaneQP . I cant improve on advice given but i can suggest where to seek a light for your budget. Many growers do not seek support, get frustrated, and give up. Far too many have invested in decent gear and let the equipment go on FB Marketplace. Some very very low priced. Given that lifespan for any decent light is 50k hours nowadays you can snatch a cheap used 1. Does not HAVE to be HLG or another high end. Just needs to be a fair quantum board style preferably. No need for the samsung 301h for budget reasons. The 281 series works fine. Chinese qboard clones work. Best practice is a great light but you can get by during your learning journey with a less expensive model. Horsetrading on marketplace is common. A “I have this” how about a straight trade or a trade and a little cash thing. I suggest seeing what is up there. Until then I would pound them with what you have. You will harvest. Smaller and or fluffier totally smokeable buds. We all want perfection but perfection in home grows can become pricey. I am a firm believer in make what you have work if cant get better. As an example…with the help of some friends here we bought out an Oklahoma grow companies old lights upon their upgrade. We spent 1k on 25 es300v2. Passed them around at cost plus shipping. AMAZING lights. Terrible side plastic though. Had some crack in shipping but zero effect on light function. That was about 17,500.00 USD in lights for 1k. The deals are there. I see HLG 550r go for 1-200 bux. I sold all my hlg for 125 each. 550r. I also see 300-400 watt lights going from 75-200 all day long. If need to stretch payments for 1 Klarna is a good resource to pay in 4 without a huge finance fee. 2 bux i believe is all. Works with Marketplace also.Happy growing.

ok lights. i’m going to change from the shop light to the 40w iluminar light it’s a lot brighter. very small closet, about 52" left wall, 28" right wall and 47" wide. budget really tight right now. just purchased this computer on credit. be good if i can harvest at least 3 oz. but after i start 2 more will have the 45w and 40w to fit the closet for now. @ChittyChittyBangin @OGIncognito @DoneDeal @Storm @Mfriendis410 @PharmerBob
