Colombian Gold finishing techniques?

Getting ready to harvest a pretty girl soon. Been researching different finishing techniques. The old school way was “fermenting” the flower in the sun? Don’t think that’s the way for me… However I have found a little information on stalk stripping? Which involves cutting a thin strip around the base of the stalk in order to inhibit nutrient uptake turning it gold. Also have thought about stalk splitting. Any ideas?

Truthfully none of them are worth it imo , some of us do 48ish hours of dark to allow buildup without light , and generally we stop liquid nutrients ( except epson salt and molasses)2 weeks from harvest, if you want a proven thing that works get a uv light for your next grow

I always give my girls 48 hrs of darkness before harvest. My father is 68 and I grew this santa marta Colombian gold for him (supposed to be original 72 strain). Really just wanting it to be as close to “old school” as I could get it for him. However this one is indoor under a spider farmer se7000. Flowered way faster than expected.

Yes it definitely has a few weeks left that’s why I’m trying to gather information to plan my execution. As far as “Fermenting” to be honest I’m not sure what they meant by that. Far as I can tell the old school Colombian gold growers would cut the plants then pile them in the sun and periodically turn them to " ferment" as they dried… I really don’t even like the sound of that. All I know is my father has talked about Colombian gold all my life and how it was his absolute favorite. He is 68 now and has not smoked since he was 30. He told me he wanted some Colombian gold… So I’m trying to give it to him… At least as close as I can get her

Thats why I grow alcapulco gold. Old school still want it cured right though.
Thougt about Columbian gold but back in the 70s 80s 90s it was so dirty tasting. Probably from fermenting in the open and getting all that dust and dirt on it. Plus it was low thc quality. If grown right indoors it will have higher thc a lot higher. If he has not smoked in 38 years you may want something milder like in the 10% thc range. Cause 15 to 20 might kick his ass hard and make him not want any more.
Not trying to say what to do. Just know how it is with people that haven’t toked in a long te and then hitting 20% and saying wow what the F was that. Me saying thats not even the good stuff. Them saying then that gets me to high so I guess I’m not cut out for this anymore and never light up again. This is people that till they were around 30 smoked a quarter to a half oz a day. Sometimes it is better to start off slow.

Indeed. I have thought the same thing. He says the old school kicked his ass and I gotta think that if they cured it or “fermented” it in the sun that had to be detrimental to the thc. It’s been a week or so since i took that pic and its so frosty now that they are starting to get the lean going on. Im using foop and dr jimz chicken soup for the soil… Seriously frosty. The burnt tips are because I like an idiot used tps signal one time. But back to the point yes i very much agree. Im gonna try it first but I’m pretty sure its not what he remembers.
