Coco and seedlings

Is it me or do it look like something has been chewing at some leaves?

This stuff?

Yes that stuff… Not sure if it’s doing good. And right it looks like bite marks but I haven’t seen one bug. I even looked through a real deal microscope. I was using coco connoisseur but I read the instructions wrong and someone said it’s for grandmaster level grower that I probably needed a 2 part simple approach. Should I flush and go back to coco connoisseur by advanced nutrients? Orndoni need to flush to switch back?

@jetlag who makes the jacks 321 formula? And where do I buy it? Is it complicated? Does it do good in soil too?

Jacksnutrients.com. Company web site. I started reading about it from some of the Cannabis “wizards” here and how simple it was to use as well as being very good and forgiving. It is a 3 part formula. They call it part A, Part B and Part C. The 3-2-1 name on the jacks 3-2-1 is simply the ratio of each part to the other. The formula calls for 3.6Grams of part A, 2.4 Grams part B and 1.2 grams part C per gallon of water. Now, Part C is nothing more than Epson Salt you buy at the grocery store, so all you need is part A and B. One caveat to the formula is you first mix Part A in water, then Part C, and lastly Part B. it has to do with them not playing nice with each other unless dissolved in water first. You can buy at Amazon and other locations. It does great on everything I think, although if you are starting in something like Happy Frog or Ocean Forest you wouldn’t be feeding for a while, which is why I like Coco so much. It has zero nutrients in it, so you feed from day one, and here is the kicker: You feed the same formula from planting to harvest!! No additives or changes to how much/little to feed when in Veg/Bloom. The same formula all the time. I feed daily and you read how often @Watt-Sun feeds his girls. I have little to no issues with deficiencies /burning leaves, etc. If you buy their larger bags of A and B you will probably never again have to buy nutes as it takes so little to feed them.

I don’t see any calcium sources in the ingredients. Are you adding cal-Mag at all?

If you’re not familiar with it, Jacks 321 is a three part dry powder nutrient recipe . It combines Jacks 5-12-26, Calcium Nitrate, and Epsom Salt in a 3-2-1 ratio to achieve an elemental breakdown of 728.286 PPM when used at full strength. The only time I use additional Calcium is when initially buffering the Coco before transplanting.

@jetlag @Watt-Sun what brand coco are y’all using and what ratio if any of perlite? Jacks 321 comes in clear bags on amazon?

I use canna coco in the bag and mix 70/30 with perlite
This is the jacks I bought . Epsom salt is the third ingredient but you can get that any where

I use the Mother Earth’s premixed in the bag, 70/30 and the same size bags as @Watt-Sun

@Watt-Sun @jetlag the jacks u just pre mix into coco and water untill the plants look like they need more and by giving more u could top dress and water for a few more weeks? And repeat the process? If so that way easier than mixing nutes every feeding. But if u top dress and u are giving the plants food every water. Will they burn?

No you must mix jacks in water prior to feeding and must be done in a specific order. Jacks can’t be used to top dress
Part A
Epsom salt
When all that’s completely dissolved you add part B then you ph adjust it

As @Watt-Sun said. You don’t wait to see if they need food. Most folks feed daily, same formula per gal of water from seedling to harvest. You can premeasure and prepare enough to last you a few days if that makes it easier for you. You will not burn the plant. I use RO water and it takes me just a very small amount of ph up to keep it between 5.8-6.0. PPM’s run between 850-1000 depending on how carefully I mix, lol. Plants look beautiful.

Read my post #43 on how to mix and the proper ratio.
