Co2 bags work or not

Are they really worth it? I got a 5 lb bag and haven’t noticed a different and I know it’s working

Good question @Helpalwaysneeded from what I hear online forums and YouTube you gotta kick the lights up to over 1000 PPFD and keep temps below 80F. Also load up on nutrients and right amount of water on the root.

I just try to keep the CO2 up by replacing the air inside the tent constantly. Input air low too help regulate heat inside tent.
Also keeping the VPD levels within range for plant stage of growth is essential.

It takes a long time before they start producing the little that they do. Im talking a few months. So you need to have the bags going for a while before use. But from all I gather they are snake oil. Ive been ground fungi for over 15 years and dont buy they produce enough to do anything especially at 5lb. Id have over 100-200lbs going at once and be in that room for hours to no effect on me or my co2 emergency sensors my house has.

My profile picture is a single corn kernel with mycelium growing out of it.

Got the co2 boost bag 2.0 from myco labs but a 48x24x72 tent thinking about buying 1-2 more

In order to use co2 effectively… You must have a sealed environment… Lights and temps also must be adjusted.

Today our environment has over 400ppms of co2… It’s plenty to keep a plant healthy and fruitful.

Running CO2 properly is a highly technical and expensive proposition. And deadly. HIGH nutrient loads (aka hydro), intense lighting, sealed environment, expensive heat and humidity rejection etc.

I would suggest maximising the potential of your space based on how much product do you consume? 3/4 lb. of flower can be grown in a 2 X 4 space for example.

Just throwing it out there.

The answer is a hard No they are not worth it unfortunately the bags are a “gimmick”.

CO2 can be used to increase yeilds but it requires ever other parameter to also be elevated as @Myfriendis410 said in the comment above.

Unless you’re growing in a sealed growing environment then its just getting sucked out if any is being added and lights, nutrients, temperature, and RH are also elevated then the plant’s can’t even use any extra co2…
That is if the bags actually put any out to begin with.

It’s been a few years since I’ve seen a video of people testing the co2 output of the bags but from what I saw in the past.
Useing a co2 metter, you can just breath in the tent a few big breathes and add more co2 then the bag puts out :man_shrugging:.

If you are growing in a house that people live in, then more then likely co2 is already elevated well above what’s out side and thus probably more co2 already present then the plants can use…

Ultimately my freind I’d say its a waste of money though co2 can work, it’s just something that’s very advanced and everything needs dialed in and up in order for it to work…

I grow in a 2x4x7 and have intake and exhaust both carbon filter and humidifier etc (4 plants 2 autos 2 photos)

That’s the best way to get them CO2. Don’t allow the air in your tent to get stale. I run exhaust fan 24/7. Especially after flower starts.

I grow at high altitude (7,000 ft) so obviously less CO2 available to the plant/plants. That said I normally yield around 12 oz. of dried flower per plant.

What a lot of growers fail to do is look at just how much flower they need for themselves. If you work backwards from that, you can determine how much you need to produce yearly.

I normally do one grow each year, starting in January. It’s a good time for us as we are close to home and the conditions in the winter are more conducive to growing good plants here (in the basement). I produced around 4 lbs. of flower last year and likely will use less than 1/2 pound for the year. The rest is given away.

Very generous of you. I’m assuming indoor given the climate. But the basement conditions are less than conducive correct?

A great many of us create nearly ideal conditions in our basements.

My basement is at 65F/40% RH all year round. I built an insulated ‘room’ or ‘box’ in my utility space: 4 X 8 X 9’ with a 6" AC/Infinity fan, have dehumidifier and chiller on hand which delivers ideal growing conditions. I don’t worry much about the RH as WPM and bud rot is almost unheard of in the high, dry climate I live in.

Similar for me…8’ X 8’ X 9’, basement ambient at 67 F/50% RH. The plants only occupy 6’ X 8’. The AC. dehumidifier and my chair use the 2’ X 8’ strip along one side.

Shoot it’s not just basements :sweat_smile:

I can only run 1 tent in summer or my house is ridiculously hot :downcast_face_with_sweat:
Even with central cooling i still have to run a window unit in my grow room.

I’m so excited for this time of year :hugs:
I get to stuff all my tents and it actually helps heat my home.

I wish my basement had the amps i need available, i dream of the day i can add some breakers and wire it in :drooling_face:

I have been lucky when we got this house, every thing was and still is eletric, when wifes dad added he added big time, many 220 circuts not used any more, so I can split them, house has 300 amps service and pole barn 200 amps, and a 600 amp transformer set up to feed, no gas ever on this place,we adding propane soon, for emergency
