So many of us are dealing with heat – too dang much heat. So, here’s what my honey found that I’m trying out – the Chillwell portable AC. It’s super small (about 6x6x6 inches) and will supposedly run for 8+ hours on a charge (USB charger).
Tried it in the drying tent first. Too much humidity emitted – as it works by running air over a cold/ice filter and water. So, I’ve moved it to the middle of the grow room floor to help with mid-day heat. I hope the cool will help and the dehumidifier will attack the humidity.
The air it produces is cool – not cold. It doesn’t blow super hard – but it blows. This would be fabulous for camping or an overnight on the boat or in the house if electric goes out when it’s 95 degrees. It’s not just portable – but I’d call it a “personal” ac.
Those are meant for personal use on a desk or something like. They blow out too much humidity when the reservoir is full, and they blow warm if empty because the motor gets hot. A portable AC or small window unit is what you need. I’m in the same boat.
Yepper – just wanted to check them out. They are not workable. I have portable ACs. I was looking for something small for the drying tent – but too much humidity. Moving on.
I use a 5 gallon bucket with shop towels draped into the water and over the side with a fan blowing on it for humidifying my dry tent. Change water every 3 days. Works like a charm.
Unless you’re out in the desert, AC is all that works. When I first started on the forum in 2017, I was broke and couldn’t afford decent equipment, so I tried to make cooling units from fans, buckets of ice, you name it…I found a little window unit at Habitat that worked ok for a little space. My son gave my a good one with digital controls and eco mode. It is perfect for my small room
Sadly…can’t share info with each other unless you’re in the lab. I would send you a unit that’s too small for my setup, but great for 4x4. I underbought when I first started and it just sits in the barn. These units have gone way up sadly.
I have so much stuff from all the other things I tried that only got used for one grow. Greedy jerks on eBay want me to pay them to give away perfectly good stuff
I’ll check it out. I have good lights and lots of stuff that just collects dust. I processed from soil to food and drain to get the best setup for me and that meant spending around $2000 to get there. $1Kfor lights
Here’s what they told me about how to post:
“Not right here. Once you select “classifieds” subcategory, click on the new post tab. It’s basically just like starting a new topic in any other subcategory. Once your post is complete it will be pending approval until a mod or admin can review it. If all is good will show up once we approve.”
Illl set to watching and maybe I can help you and you might be less poor like we alll are. If we didn’t breed goldens, we’d be screwed. You ain’t going to like it at all around august. I hope I can help you out. I get on once a day or so. I will check this out. I have all kinds of things that I’d give to people who’d pay shipping and that’s it. I just don’t want to dump good stuff in the landfill @GrnyGrows
