Honestly im glad i ran with red and clear solo cups. I like being able to hopefully see the root ball develop.
@Flatnut Thatâs totally up to you my friend .You have to look at what you need or want out of the grow at the end.
Bushes or trees. Haha.
Takes a bit more work to keep them short and a nice flat canopy and maximize the return on effort. Better for a shorter space.
Iâm a bit less inclined lol. I like to see how they grow au naturale.
I have about 5 1/2 ft to play with to the lights in my room and if they stretch too close then Iâll just supercrop the offending branches and let them finish.
Iâm running 1200 w of Hps for flowering the 5 plants on this run so I can get away with a bit taller plant and still get decent/ worthwhile lower bud development at harvest.
Hope this is of some use to you in your decision going forward.
I use clear restaurant serving cups but use tape to block light all the way down to the bottom 1/4 inch up so i can see root development and then use an oscillating saw to open them up and transplant. In my opinion and what ive researched light hinders root growth so hence i use tape to block out the light
That would be a better question for MattyBear, but I believe he is typically using 1-2 gallon fabric pots. If you ask him in his journal Iâm sure heâll tell you.
Are you top feeding with organics or are you using synthetic nutrients? If using synthetic nutrients go with Promix HP
If organic, Coast of Maine Stonington blend is your best bet.
Welcome along for the ride. We picked up a hitchhiker!
I would go with Pro-Mix Hp myself⌠But @Strungthru told us he has access to Pro-Mix Organic⌠So he has to make sure that his Pro-Mix of choice isnât âhotâ alreadyâŚ
I posted in the meter section as well but was needing a new PPM meter. Is the Apera TDS20 or EC20 the one I need. I want a meter that shows the coveted 1000 ppm in the window. Want to get this in the toolkit for this grow.
@Low or @MadamCalamity would be the best persons to ask right now. @Low just did an exhaustive comparison for a lot of different modelsâŚ
Thx Kap. We shall see what the gurus sayâŚI have the Apera pH20. Just wasnât sure which one on the other.
I learned this on my first grow with regular bag seeds. I seen how they grew naturally with the tall apical bud and all the lower side growth that didnât amount to much but a bunch of larffy homegrown tasting crap. I culled males out of my tent on the first grow I ever did but I watched how all the plants developed on their own without any training. Oh, I topped them once.
Now I am a fanatic when it comes to LST\HST. I Supercrop and FIM them then Manifold them the whole way through to keep an even canopy and keep the branches open from the middle and separated from each other for good light penetration and air flow. I get good results this way.
Do you have a link for the comparison report?
Thanks @kaptain3d i did follow up on @Bonjoyle s other post
Have to take note that it ONLY contains fertilizer in Canada made bags of the organic garden mix. Everywhere else itâs just peat, coir, gypsum, and perlite.
Well, this pdf from Premier Tech (US company) states otherwise:
All Iâm saying is : Check your specific bags for âtraces of nutrientsâ when youâre buying them. Pro-Mix with or without nutrients will work just fine, but you need to know when to start feeding your plantiesâŚ
Nice! Thanks to you and Lady @MadamCalamity for all the research you so generously share with all of us!
I made sure to check my bags. They actually use way more peat than the site states. 80-90% not 60-70. BUt no nutes in it. The promix site has removed the canadian format information so maybe that got kicked off since I looked a month ago.
We are just trying to do our part like the rest of you guys. we all want everyone to succeed
