Fine looking lady there!

I’d like to enlist the vast knowledge present here in the forum. This is supposed to be a photoperiod variety. As noted in my initial entry the plant has not been in veg for very long at all and it is on an 18/6 light schedule. I was not planning on flipping to flower for a few more weeks. However I noticed a couple of days ago that she is already flashing me with her pistils!

Is this anything to be concerned about or is this just her preflower display?

Tagging some other that have helped me with other grows:

That’s what I was hoping. I am planning on topping her. Is it too early for that?

These plants, just when you think you have them figured out they throw you a curve ball.:v:

You can do it now. I’ve done it on plants younger than this one.

As to the pistils, I’ve not seen any appear on mine before flipping but who knows - each plant does different tricks.

I’d leave her at 18/6, and if she turns out to be an auto you’ll know soon enough. If she’s a photo she likely won’t go much farther than a few strays like you have there.

She’s very pretty and looks very healthy!

That’s just fuzz on her calyx’s if you see those coming out of the tops, then she is flowering. She’s just letting you know she is mature enough to flower. She just hit puberty! Your little girl is all grown up! LMAO

Topped her today. Fingers crossed that she is a photoperiod and not an autoflower. None of the seed sources for this type clearly state which it might be.

I’m growing this one for the medicinal properties. It’s THC to CBD profile is listed as 2% THC to 18%-20% CBD. We’ll see when it is harvested, dried and cured.

My grow previously to this one was CBD White Widow which after drying and curing tested out at 9% THC and 9% CBD. I really like this one! Smoke is sweet and mellow. Effects are relaxing, happy and gives quite the feeling of zen without the heavy THC psychoactive effects. Definitely going to grow another one!

Doesn’t matter as far as topping is concerned. Autos can yield a lot even when topped. Check out @MeEasy grows…

Figured it was time for an update.
-Light schedule is 18/6
-PPFD is roughly 600-625

  • 9 days since I first noticed pistils
  • Topped 9 days ago
  • Still feeding on Roots Organics Lush amended with Nature’s Living Soil Original Concentrate. No additional nutrients.
  • Watering from below with AC Infinity self watering base
  • No PPM’s measured yet due to bottom watering method.
  • Roughly 12" tall

I don’t know where to go next with this grow. CBD ACDC is supposed to be a photoperiod type. However, as you can see from the pictures, she seems to be in full flower on an 18/6 light schedule.

  • Should I treat it as a photoperiod and switch to 12/12 light schedule?
  • What would happen if it is a photoperiod and I leave it on 18/6 light schedule?
  • Conversely what would happen if it is an autoflower due to a recessive gene being displayed and I switch to a 12/12 schedule?

You can also see in the photos that a handful of the earliest and largest fan leaves are showing ‘painted nails’. I suspect that this is due to the Roots Organics Lush being a little ‘hot’. It certainly is not widespread enough to cause me concern at this point.

All in all I am quite happy with her progress at this point. She is just acting a little perplexing in regards to her flowering behavior.

I’ve decided that this is an autoflower and not a photoperiod like it was described by the vendor. If it were a photoperiod it really shouldn’t be flowering like this without a flip to a 12/12 light schedule. Oh well life goes on.

Been in flower for 15 days. It’s staying really short and very bushy. Not a bad thing I guess. I went in to trim out some growth today to open it up. It is so short and dense, however, that I can’t even get into it to see what I am doing. I was also going to try and tie some of the branches down to spread it out. But the branches are very short and are almost all the same lenght. It looks like I wouldn’t gain much by trying. Might cause more damage then it would be worth. Also being an autoflower I don’t want to do anything to it that would set it back.

So I’ve decided to just let it go and see how what happens. I’m not worried about airflow since it is a single plant in a 3x3 tent with an AC Infinity oscillating fan and two small fans in opposite corners from each other. I feel it is getting excellent air flow. I’m also keeping the humidity under 50% so I think mold will not be a problem.

It is not stretching much at all. Maybe as it gets a little older it will stretch and that will let me get in there to open things up a bit. This is only my fourth grow but I haven’t seen a plant that is so dense!

It is showing some painted nails but nothing serious. I’ve decided, since I have plenty of flower from my previous grows that I am going to see how hard I can push this one!

This has been a very interesting grow. Thought it was a photoperiod then it started flowering on a 18/6 light schedule. Obviously an autoflower. Then it only got about 2 feet tall when according to everything I could find about the strain it was supposed to be a tall grower. Well, as we all know, cannabis plants like to do their own thing from time to time.

It is supposed to be a high CBD with an 18:1 CBD to THC ratio. I’m hoping that at least that much is true as I grew it to make topical salves for pain relief as well as edibles for sleep and anxiety relief. I do have a Alpha-Cat TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) kit to test the cannabinoid profile so we will see.

It’s been in flower for 7 weeks so I figured I’m getting close to harvest time. The research I’ve done indicates that CBD dominate strains should be harvested a little sooner then THC dominate strains since the CBD will start to degrade earlier then THC strains. The indication for harvest seems to be just as some of the trichomes turn amber but not too many. You want them to be mostly cloudy and it doesn’t hurt if there are some clear there as well.

I noticed a couple of days ago that I have some pistils starting to turn brown so I decided to check the trichomes. I was quite surprised to see a lot of cloudy and even a few amber trichomes. In fact upon closer inspection the majority of the pistils are turning brown and receding into the flower.

So I’ve decided to chop her down this weekend and get the harvest into the Cannatrol for drying and curing.

Here are some pictures of the trichomes that I took yesterday. I’ll post some pictures of the whole plant when I start taking her down later today.

Comments regarding the right time to harvest CBD dominant strains as well as where my plant currently sits would be most appreciated!
