In my outdoor garden I used some BT on my girls as a preventative. I had about a gallon leftover.So I decided to spray my squash and tomato plants as it needs to be used up within 24 hours.
Well I had found two tomato horn worms.They dam near impossible to find during the day but one can use a black light.The worms glow in the dark when using a hand held black light.They can destroy a plant over night.Fortunately I caught them early.
In the pics there is one about 4” long and one with white egg sacks on it.Those white egg sacks are from a wasp that finds a worm and lays eggs on it then when they hatch the off spring eat the host .
In another picture are the results of the BT.
Horn worms are harmless,just gross to touch.But they will eat a tomato plant to the ground over night.
I think i had read warhawk moth. Turns out its just a hawk moth. Either way ugly and beautiful at the same time. We just sat and watched it munch on a dead potato plant one night. It was about done in the morning.
