I personally love the smell - but my wife doesnt want the house to smell when we have people over. So I said I think I can get a carbon filter to eliminate the smell.
So my question is - do they really work? how well? Even in very late stages and up to harvest time?
I dont really have a good way to vent to outside… so if I want to use my tent, I need to clean up the exhaust air.
Yes , Carbon filters work very well.
Terrabloom brand would be a good choice. Also it would be best if you could exhaust outside or maybe into crawl space Or attic. Install a dryer vent to the outside. Best to keep wife happy !
Good luck
Replace often, and to prolong the life don’t use during veg or humid conditions. Effectiveness depends on odor load. I run several filters and they can’t handle it. Lately resorting to chemical solutions to mask it. Which sucks. Lol. Long story short, don’t overwhelm the filters. Use appropriately sized filters. The bigger the better. Surface area is everything.
AC infinity offers a refillable carbon filter. Helps keep expenses down. They also offer a window kit to install venting outside. But I see that’s not a option. They do work but I still have some aroma even-venting to outside. Could be from opening tent but there may also be a low flying cloud where some buds get burned from time to time
Extend life by using only in flower. Then only when starting to smell. They work very well when neg pressure as mentioned. I also put carbon filters on my ac. Helps out the house and removes a lot of particulates. Not canisters. Cuttable rolled carbon filter material.
Unfortunately, once the vegging plants reach a certain size, I can detect the odor of Cannabis plants in my basement outside of my grow area. Not as bad as when in flower… But the smell is there for sure.
As a renter, it’s not worth taking the chance in my state.
I have one at the moment kicking off A pretty good smell in veg I went ahead and put my filter on the fan. I have noticed over the years Different strains Some smell a lot more than others .
It depends - what makes a carbon filter efficient & effective? Ideally it’s going to be able to flow enough air through itself as to not put much restriction on the exhaust fan flow (efficient), but also the exhaust air is still going to be passing through enough carbon &/or slowly enough to be scrubbed free of odor (effective).
