Cant find what im looking for about my runoff

I had a post couple weeks ago about my runoff being really low as 4.4 So i was told to get dilomite lime. I finally got it in. So after my flush cause of nutrients problems. I added a litle more soil cause it was low and could feel roots. I didnt check ph runoff before add lime like a dummy. Added two days ago. had to water today. Runoff was 6.1. I know it couldnt of worked that quick. Am i gonna be in trouble here for it being good ph today and the lime in there 2 days ago. Was told to add couple tbls. I have been researchin all morning and cant find a thing.

Im thinking that at only 2 tbsp ‘s added , that it should be fine going forward.
Just keep an eye on your runoff numbers to make sure ph doesn’t spike on you.
If you see it starting to rise , then you can go in at a slightly lower ph to counteract it.
Just don’t make too big of a change till you see the results of the next runoff check and go from there.

Good for getting out of the 4’s and back up, right on pharmer!

What’s the medium?

That’s gonna continue to buffer upwards with the amount added. Dolomite has high Mg to Ca numbers so be careful and reduce the calmag by half till pH is on the downwards rebound again.

@Autos-only @low would this assessment be correct?

That’s the question. I feel like you’d know this stuff better than me, bro.

Lime does work in a pinch but can be unpredictable in small pots. Great for beds. Usually takes some time to kick in, but like @Budbrother mentioned it will trend up over time, but its impact depends on the medium. Dolomite provides high levels of calcium and magnesium, which can alter nutrient availability and potentially end in too much cal mag. Calcium and magnesium are good at binding to mediums which generally is helpful in keeping alkalinity up. But… These 2 in elevation can lock out phosphorous and potassium. Results can look like toxicity or lock out even if your ppms seem fine.

Just be careful and track your numbers. You may end up in a situation where you will be flushing down.

Last time i did a flush only used 4 gallins of water for a 5 gallon pot. Thats what i was told. With this situation id probly do the 3x water the 5 gallon maybe to make sure its ok. Or just flush down to the right ph

Generally flushing takes 5-10x the amount of water in gallons to gallons in soil. So let’s say 5 gallon pot could take 50 gallons or more to get fixed. I’ve ran as much as 75 gallons through 5’s.

That was also with happy frog

Wow. My runoff in the past two watering has actually cleared up so I am happy about that. So i will definitely look at my numbers on my next water and determin from there. I am gonna make it work though. She looks great and healthy.

I’ve moved away from soil because of similar issues, however there are a lot of experienced members here and we are all willing to help.

Sorry for the late response, I appreciate the tag @Budbrother !

Low ph with happy frog is unfortunately not an uncommon issue… almost every bag iv seen iv needed to add lime to get hp up…

I think you did the right thing and I don’t believe you see any negative effects from it.

It will take time for the plant to come back from that stress and appear healthy again. How does she look now?
