From a fellow grower: I want to use a mixture of cococior and leca. I would like to know what you think. I believe it would negate the issues that occur when used independently and afford me the benefits of both separate and as a mixture.

In my opinion the Leca is not needed with coco. From my understanding it would benefit soil and a grower that has a tendency to over water which is near impossible using coco coir as a medium. When growing in coco the feeding routine is daily due to the consistency of coco and perlite drainage capabilities

This grow i am into now has some coco mixed in with Coast of Main and my own composte soil. I had 6 plants but had to cull out 3 males a few days ago. They are on their 2nd week of flower. The 3 males were growing good. I was upset when i seen the clusters of pollen sacks forming. One was in straight Coast of Main Stonington blend and one was straight coco and one was the previous mixture i just noted. I found that i am on the fence about mixing coco together with other amendments. I need more information and this is also why this post caught my eye. I still have 3 females left. 2 are in a mixture of coco and Coast of Main and composte soil.
It would be nice if more people strated chiming in that have experience and knowledge about this. I dont know what i am in for, for these next 8 weeks! This will be the first time i have ever seen cannabis grow flowers before my eyes…
Edit: i just googled leca… nothing near to what i am in…

The only issue with mixing coco and soil is the PH. Depending on your mix ratio it may not be a problem. Coco PH of 5.8-6.2 and soil at 6.3-6.8 you could still get nutrient absorption just not at optimum levels

I agree that it wasn’t a good idea but i was in a rush to get everything that was on my back deck transplanted and brought indoors. I am having pH fluctuations and i have funny leaf growth on one. So, yes, not a good idea. This is my first attempt. Next grow will be better. I hope!

I have a plant that is growing funny. The leaves are deformed looking and have tiny brown spots with holes in them. What could be causing this

Resemble 2 things in my experience could be a 3rd. Pest, water droplets from top feeding or the beginning of a calcium deficiency but doesn’t look like a calcium deficiency.

I have 3 of the same plants. One has different looking leaves also. I think they usually grow out of it. Not sure about your holes. The plant in front is the one I was refering to.

Those were my 1st attemp at lst. I have always topped and supercrop. Was ready to try something new. Maybe I can keep these level. Lol

From what i am learning here on my first grow is, you dont want them real bushy and tall when growing indoors. If its outdoors then heck, let it do its thing. Indoors i want to keep them stout with alot of tops all the same height… i want to learn supercroping… i know how to HST but bending and twisting and leveling the main stalk had grabbed my attention.

Could it be the medium im growing in? Its a mixture of coco, coast of Main and composte soil? I doubt it… i also think it could be the strain. Who knows. Next grow i will avoid these issues…

The mixed mediums may have PH challenges but don’t think that’s the issue. I would aim for a 6.2-6.3 PH and see if that helps…top of the range for coco and bottom of the range for soil
