Bulldognuts New Grow Room Journal

I spent over 2 hours on phone with insurance company and of course got disconnected once during call. Was sent back and forth between customer service and authorization department. Finally got someone who appeared to make a effort to track down what is going on. In effect they are saying that Dr’s office screwed up. Now I have to wait for Dr’s office to contact me back, to see if insurance company is telling me the truth about all of this.

In my wife’s words, the insurance companies don’t even read the charts provided. Is all about how procedures are coded, and any code with cheaper alternatives are flagged. From there is up to someone at insurance company to review. This is person who should look at medical history and make determination on proposed procedure. Although insurance companies are up their behind to deny as much possible. From there these cases are referred to a peer to peer review where her doctor would explain to doctor from insurance company why this procedure is necessary. At this point the insurance company will usually approve if her doctors ducks are in a row. The problem is usually the doctor from insurance company making sure it’s approved in system. He throws file on someone’s desk and it happens whenever they get to it.

The clinic my wife worked at had 5 locations and provided treatments that were often considered cosmetic or not medically required. They had a whole department dedicated to getting approvals from insurance companies, 4-5 full time employees. Total joke if you ask me.

That’s a understatement LOL I told her that she needed to let me handle it. I’m fairly confident someone would have received a thorough cussing if she tried to deal with insurance rep. I generally can keep my cool and know that when dealing with this type of thing, the person you are actually speaking with doesn’t have any responsibility with what is happening. But I definitely had to breathe deeply a couple of times. But the one rep that I ultimately ended up talking to was very helpful and I believe did their best to help figure out what was going on. BTW never received a call back from Dr’s office today. Hopefully they will get in touch tomorrow

Good for you for keeping it cool. I lost it a bit on a DIRECTV person the other day while trying to cancel their overpriced service. She kept saying she needed to talk to the account holder. About the fifth time I had to say “I AM THE FREAKING ACCOUNT HOLDER!!!” I tried to keep it cool but the level of incompetency sometimes is too much.

Car dealership called me to offer me unbelievable price for trading in car i bought for them. I went straight to f-bombs and idiots, and those were probably more polite things I had to say. Dude had the nerve to tell me I needed to watch my language .

I had to remind him that my car was there for scheduled service and they wrecked it. Then after having it sit there for additional 6 months, they determined they couldn’t fix it and gave me a different car.

Find one there I know they have them also might take digging to find tho. Hopefully u know people in the Dr field. Here in Michigan Henry Ford down town Detroit the main bldg if u don’t have insurance or have messed up insurance alot go there for the work to be done. With it being in Detroit and the ways life is there broke rundown people no jobs no health insurances or just broke and can’t pay the bills. Have work done at Henry for main here and after a year of them issuing out the bill to be paid they trashit and write it off as an insurance claim. They have so many people that cannot pay the bills they just do tax write offs for those ones so they still get something. Hope all works out and the wife gets what she needs. My cousin runs along of a hospital here in Michigan and told me about this hospital one day. I needed my surgery didn’t have insurance she said go to Henry Ford main have it done. After a year they pitch the bill to the taxes side and u should no longer receive bills in mail from them for it. Not saying every state is like this but I’m sure there is a loop hole somewhere to get shit done

Wanted to thank everyone for your support for my wife and for my harvest. Got the answers that I spent most of the yesterday trying to get. The insurance company never specifically said that they denied authorization for surgery. I do believe that the representative I eventually spoke to made a honest effort to help. The surgery scheduler called this morning and said that there’s a good possibility that rep probably couldn’t access info. So the answer in a nutshell is they did deny authorization for surgery. Dr’s rep said that the Dr had a peer to peer review with insurance Dr. She said that whenever a they deny authorization they are required to do a review with surgeon. So they want her to do rehab for 6 months before they will authorize. She said that if rehab says that she can’t do rehab then they will write a letter stating that and at that point the insurance will likely authorize.

Sorry friend, I hope it works out for you/her after all the hoops.

2 most irritating things on the planet: attorneys and insurance companies - essentially one in the same. take take take, make you fight to get what you’re owed.

The only advice I can give you my friend is : make sure to write down the names and date of everyone you talk to. I’ve fought the insurances company with my wife for years. If you take the names, not to scare them, but just to make them accountable to their “word”… They tend to work better if they think they can be traced back to any “mistake”… At least that was our experience with those sharks… :peace_symbol:

Sorry you guys are having to go through all of this. I hate how insurance tells you ya have to do PT first. If a surgeon is saying it’s not going to help then it’s not going to help. Or has never helped me at least. My last shoulder surgery the doc wrote that I did extensive PT while deployed. Lol, that never happened and the surgery was approved

Have the surgeon recommend the PT clinics. He might have some influence . Six months is way too long
