@Caligurl, how often do you recommend applying the CJDB? The bottle says every 3-5 days in greenhouses. I actually did a good dose last night, then a partial dose tonight before I read that it should be 3-5 days. That said, I don’t see anything about frequency to apply to cannibals and it looked like they spread from last night.
Thanks, I think I may give it a shot as a preventative measure in the future.
You have to break their life cycle, it takes them 3-5 days to start laying eggs once they hatch. So that’s why they recommend that.
You’re problem is now with all that bud, and how microscopic they are, you ain’t even getting them all. You’d really need to dunk the whole plant. Every 3-5 days.
At least now you know what to look for and you’ll be ready to nuke the little buggers next time.
Yes, I would do every 3-4 days but only 2 applications should be fine… yes, the problem is that you have them in your buds, like it or not.
I’ve read about peroxide but haven’t tried it myself… @AfgVet??
I’ve also used Dr. Bronners Castille diluted in water and it’s effective and safe for the buds like peroxide. After harvest, I do a peroxide wash and then I rinse well even without bugs. Problem is that they do get stuck in the stickiness of the buds so finding a balance between washing too vigorously and not enough is important.
Getting a good magnifying glass when trimming is invaluable for cases like this. Smoking a few bugs isn’t going to kill you… we eat more bugs every year than you are to imagine
And who doesnt love some chocolate, here’s what the FDA is Cool with us eating.
Chocolate - Insect filth - Average is 60 or more insect fragments per 100 grams
Yumm, thats what makes a Crunch bar crunchy.
And who doesn’t like some bread.
Wheat Flour - Insect filth - Average of 75 or more insect fragments per 50 grams
- Rodent filth - Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 50 grams
I apologize if my previous comment sounded harsh.
For the record, the reason I had to learn about this topic is I had to battle em myself in my first grow. I should also mention, the lemon kush that had them the worst is still some of my favorite smoke, I’m nearly out of it. Came out super frosty too, I think it triggered extra trike production as a defense. Not a method I would recommend though.
Copy that- Thank you @CurrDogg420! I do plan to dunk them completely, just hoping to stave the attack long enough to get some good amber. I may end up chopping a little early to save them though!
Haha, totally agree. I’m not worried about a few bugs, especially these microscopic “buggers”!!
Now THOSE are some interesting facts!! Who’d a thunk it? . I’ve never been squeamish, so all is good.
I haven’t had bugs to deal with other than a few stuck gnats, but I do wash all my plants.
This is what I followed to get started
You’re all good @CurrDogg420!! I totally appreciate learning from everyone’s experience here. Thanks again! BTW, these buds are FULL of Trich’s also!
Thank you!!!
