So i went from soil using fox farm, which did awesome. To now using coco with advanced nutrients full line up. I have 3 clones and one seed, the plants i have going in coco have no smell but are sticky as hell. A few smell like grass when you smell the bud on the plant. I know i over fed some cause of the dark leaves a a little shiney so its nitrogen tox. But will that make the trichomes not smell or is that all genetics? But all the hairs turned in the middle of week 5. Just curious if i cut back on the nutes next time will i get my smell back?? Thanks for any info.
My plants in fox farm will smell when you rub them soon as they have trichomes. These look done and they have the most faint smell ever. Just curious what makes that happen
I have only grown in soil. I have heard folks say the terpene profile (a lot of the smell) in hydro is not as pronounced as in soil.
Genetics, environment, and at times, strain. Some plants smell and some don’t. It’s not an indicator of potency and is nothing to worry about. Smells are driven by terpines rather than cannabinoids like THC, CBN, and CBD.
The best smell is achieved after harvest after the dry and cure are complete.
Yeah my plants in soil, always stunk like hell. I did have one plant though that finished early it was my first time cloning, but i got blue gelato 41 from a seed and it doesnt smell much either. But one question of mine is, does over feeding cause lack of smell? They look healthy as can be just the leaves was dark
How would the enviornment effect smell?? Like would humidity have any factor in that?? I havent had a stable humidity this time cause i upgraded to a 8 x 4 tent and its packed with plants and its rained alot. But the humidity has stayed under 60. Normally has been 50 to 60
Environment dictates the health of the plant. It includes temp, humidity, watering practices, lighting quality, ventilation, nutrition,…
Looking good!
Yeah but you can see that i went heavy on the nutrients. But they was the healthiest plants ive ever had in flower. But shit i flushed them a week ago and they still havent yellowed at all. I guess where i over fed.
Check out the leaves on this strain, its jr mint. Looks like it was crossed with a mint plant. But the leaves was so jagged and wild lookin i figured I’d share the pic.
Yeah. Pretty wild looking leaves.
My eyes are still pretty good and I see no indication of N tox or overdoing it. Usually the first signs is burnt or browned tips - i,e. fingernails. I do not see this.
I’m not seeing it. They have a lot of white pistils. This tells me to sit tight for another couple of weeks.
Lack of smell - I just grew some Afghan. Once they started flowering they were very aromatic. During mid flower the smell seemed to subside. The smell was there again when I started handling the flowers during harvest and when dry trimming. The cure jar smell sweet.
It sounds like they went into lockout when you overfed them. I almost did that 2 weeks ago. My plants pulled thru after a few waterings. Do you check your ppm? I grow with happy frog but i have a friend that grows in cocoa. @RPgrower can help you more than i can. Good luck and happy growing
I make kief boxes
@Beeken1992 actually everything looks really good to me. I think it’s a good idea to have a pH PPM test meter. That way you know what you going in with and you can check what’s coming out the bottom. It’s a lot easier to keep pH and PPM where they should be with the meter. I recommend testing always before putting water in. And testing occasionally your runoff. As far as the smell goes it looks like Merlin and the Midwest guy has you covered on that. Have a great evening my friend and keep on growing. Those boxes are really nice that DJ makes the fact that I have one coming tomorrow I’m very excited:grin:
You got a ppm or ec chart for coco to go by. And i use AN. Just trying halfing what i was using now.
Just there super dark and shiney. Im sure i got nitrogen tox. But i dont think its the worst ever. But the buds do smell like grass on the plant. Like a strong grass smell.
@Beeken1992 here’s the feed chart that I use. The part at the bottom left hand corner is for Cocoa
Are you growing in cocoa? Not sure why they dont smell more. Growing in soil helps. Mine have 5 weeks left and are getting nicely stinky. Im selling cedar kief boxes on ebay. I want to give foŕum members a $20 discount. You can email me from ebay if your interested. Thanks . Happy growing
Yeah im pretty aggervated , i spent alot of money on an. Im just praying me cutting the nutes in half this next time takes away that smell. It just smells like very green, no chronic smell. Looks killer, but i flushed a week ago in coco and the plants are still green. So i know ive over fed, just praying. Anyone use an? And what strength do you use if so?
