Buds are turning a darker (brownish) color

I am growing two auto flowers and one has like two or three pieces of the bud that are darker than the rest. The purple one is getting harvest this weekend at 9 weeks. The green one is the one with the problem. It has 2 more weeks to go and I’m wondering if it ro and I should harvest it now to save what I can or it’s not rot and the two more weeks will give me a better harvest.

Really hard to tell from those pics but I’m not seeing any rot in the buds :metal::green_heart:
Maybe try to get some closer bud shots. The “brown” ones

Cool ! This is good news and calms me down from chopping both of them. I will get some closer shots when I get off work.

It will help. I could just be normal coloration many plants put up while progressing through the flowering stage. It is particularly common among plants that are experiencing colder than normal temps.

Are they brown only on some parts of the bud or the whole bud? Have you touched them?..If they are brown and crispy you have Caterpillars or cutworms…Hope not…

I kept looking and I found out it is a calyx. The calyx is turning brown because it is dying from old age, some people said online that it happens a lot. I went ahead and harvested both plants and they don’t look absolutely horrible either. Buds were somewhat dense somewhat frosty and good smells.

Guava x Gelato 41 (similar to the kings Kush grapy kushy smell)

Blue haze x gelato 41 (Straight piney minty smell)

Hey man those look pretty damn good!! Nice color trichs etc… Let us know on the smoke report…!

Well the buds became airy and less dense after the dry. They are curing now and I have smoked from both plants. The taste is there but not the smell on these buds even though they stunk up my room.

The Guava has a lighter, less herbal sour taste like when you take a big hit. The smoke is light and a almost sweet flavor that can very well be described as melon or fruit however you want to describe it and more potent than the haze cross. It is pleasant to smoke.

The blue haze is a herbal somewhat of a sour taste. It is not as sticky on your fingers when breaking up and the high is not as intense. Is it bad, not by any means. It has good flavor and most of the flower I get is not far above this strain perfect for a after work toke.

I feel I can do better and think these plants can be pushed harder with both general hydroponics expert line and organic nutrients. Increasing the plants uptake of nutrients by feeding organically along with synthetics should help bud density without burning.

That is how you do it. Learn your plants and how they eat. Apply your findings on the next grow. Nice smoke report also.

2023 is here and hoping this organic synthetic combination works…
